Most of you will no I'm no protagonist and I try to remain objective.
I always found him to be a lazy lard @_rse with a propensity to be more of a 'wrong un' - not the best for the morale of the team!!
Time will tell if a change of environment will affect his persona - but at 31 I'm not confident.
I appreciate he's now a Raider and that you will all give him the plaudits of "great signing" etc - and why wouldn't you!! From outside looking in, it doesn't look that great to me folks!
Perhaps I'm wrong. It'll not take too long to find out - only 6 weeks to boxing day.

“I have been talking to him for a while and he can’t wait to get going – he will be scattering a few,” said Johnston, who is currently waiting to announce a second signing as well.

I disagree, its another Championship club signing a SL player who has had his day.
I personally was never critical of Catic's signing, he has always been a professional and his only disciplinary issues were on the pitch while still being a strong and even difficult character off the pitch. Thackeray is a different personality all together, he is nowhere near Catic in ability or professionalism.
As for "it must be ok because Des's mate Brian recommended him", I would suggest that recommendation came with a caveat along the lines of "good player if you can control him", can anyone image Des admitting he wouldn't be up to controlling him.
As I said, we will have to wait and see. I hope I am wrong and he fulfills his potential while at the club.

Thackray has played 200 games in SL and has 3 GB caps. Bell played 1 game in SL.
Bell is currently spending time at Her Majesty's Pleasure - and not for the first time.
People have been bemoaning our lack of signings - but when the first one is named it's all doom and gloom.

I personally think he will be a great addition to the side, but we don't all have to agree. If O.N.S is proved wrong I'm sure he will be the first to admit it.

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

its nothing to do with what happens on the pitch,i think supporters are more concerned about his exploits off the pitch.there is no doubting he is a very good player when he is on his game its keeping him on his game, but like its already been said lets see how he goes

he done the talking on the pitch. get off your whinging backsides and praise our board and the player for 1st wanting to come to barrow, i bet there was a few other clubs in for him and we came top of his list and 2nd this type of player shows our ambition and will make other players attracted to join the ranks here.

I have watched him plenty, and he always seemed to be anything but a lazy lard @_rse... as you see fit to call him, he's anything but imo,.. he always appeared to have plenty of commitment on the field of play.......a strong running prop with a good work ethic... who gave S/L defenses plenty to think about, and not bad in defense as far as I remember. I can't comment about his off field exploits because I don't do hearsay, but if Nobby saw fit to sign, and then recommend him to Raiders that will do for me.
yes, time alone will tell whether he will do the biz for us, until then I will refrain from pre-judging as to what benefits he will or will not bring to our club, except to say, he is after all, a S/L player and as such should be given a chance to prove his worth in our colors.
maybe he will even bring his mentor with him that really would be something
