Stenhousemuir football club play on a UEFA approved artificial pitch and it appears to play like a real grass pitch, not been on it personally just watched a game there. The players don't get the burns that they got from the old style plastic pitches........I played a cup final on Preston NE pitch, so I know how awful it was........Plus the bounce was way to much.

Could be worth a look, because if it was playable then clubs could make some wedge from hiring it out.AIRDRIE will play their home matches on a hi-tech artificial pitch next season.

Work on laying the new all-weather, state-of-the-art surface will begin at New Broomfield stadium on Monday.
The ambitious £500,000 project will see the current grass ripped out and replaced with a FIFA two-star quality pitch produced by Greenshields Sports Turf Systems.
Airdrie will become the fifth SFL team to use a plastic surface with Alloa Athletic, Stenhousemuir, East Stirling and Montrose already playing on these types of pitches.
Around 400,000 tonnes of earth will be removed with digging going 18 inches deep. A new drainage system will also be installed.
The work is expected to take eight weeks and the pitch will be ready by the start of the new season.
The red ash track surrounding the park is also getting the chop with the ‘pitch carpet’ running from the main stand to east stand barriers.
Stadium manager Alistair Cameron told the Advertiser: “It’s a terrific investment for us.
“This has been something the directors have been quite keen on since taking over the running of the stadium.”
The surface will be available for the public to hire from Excelsior Stadium Management Ltd who have invested around £1.5million in the Craigneuk Avenue facility in the last year.
The company built nine five-a-side parks on land beside the ground and see the main pitch re-laying as the final phase of their Airdrie Football Centre plan.
Mr Cameron added: “It will be open seven-days-a-week and will mean we are a total football centre. We’re using the very best type of surface available and we’re more confident that games will be on during the winter months.
“This is an exciting project for the area.
“The whole site will benefit from this and as a result, the football club will also benefit.”

A few years ago i went to watch Thornhill play at the still being built Leigh village and they played on an artificial
pitch there and it looked pretty good to be fair

Did Hunslet play on one this season at Leigh's ground? I didn't get to go to that game but was under impression it was artificial.

Also if in the future every team ended up playing on one it would become a bit less glamorous

No mud/frost on artificial surfaces??not sure on that one, if it was weather proof maybe a move back to winter rugby for nat lgs, a possible way to attract crowds.Summer rugby dosent seem to attract speccies at nat lg level, not that id like to go back to winter.

Seeing as we play in December, January, February and March I reckon we already play in winter KOL
