Don't get me wrong but I thought this thread was supposed to be about who the new coach will be!
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

All our players need to focus 100% on their own game, form and fitness.
Players should play and coaches should coach. At our level or above, I can't remember anyone who has been successful as a player/coach over any reasonable period of time.

thats how it should work, for the club to kick on and look towards building for the future a coach needs to be in place.barrow cant keep changing coaches every season they need someone onboard long term so that he can take care of the playing side of things while the club itself takes care of looking at long term goals.alright fev didnt win the grand final last season but on and off the field it sounds like they are making big improvements to the way that their club is being run.dont get me wrong the bods down at craven park are doing a great job with attendances on the up and success on the field and improvements taking place in the ground i just think we need somebody in charge of the team otherwise its going to be the same sort of year as the one gone with lots of ups and downs.

The following quote was attributed to Martin Crompton, who is to say the least, a little unhappy
QUOTE
“I got the message on Saturday and I’m very disappointed. I’d have loved the chance to work with a squad like that.
“I’m absolutely gutted, to be honest with you, but it’s not going to happen for whatever reason, and I won’t go into detail about how it’s been handled.”

Wonder what he meant by the last part of his statement.
Sorry folks, no forecast comp this year

It means Mr Crompton has learnt a valuble lesson about counting his chickens before they are hatched. Nothing more.

I take that as meaning - "I can't accept the decision professionally and have to slip in a derogatory remark to make me feel better".
He also seemed to have a dig at the as yet unknown new coach earlier in the article ..... "I think anyone who can’t win that league with that squad is a failure."
If that was is his way and attitude it's no wonder he didn't get the job and we've probably had a lucky escape tbh.

Why, oh why does it have to be negative? I think we've had a lucky escape from Crompton and am really glad he's not been appointed as coach.
Something apparently seen, heard, or sensed, but having no physical reality!

With nobody else in the frame for the job, (Clarke signing with Wigan U21's) looks like he was wanting to much wonga. Now with Crusaders going #### up and no apointment for Mr Sharpe the BOD could have changed there direction IWO the new coach and Crompton felt the vibes from the club were such that he was about to be apointed but like anything if the paper work has not been signed everyone has the right to change there mind and it looks like Des & the BOD have done just that.
Me thinks Mr Noble has had some input and this could only be good business for Barrow.
1. Sharpe coach
2. Cooke assistant & loose Fwd
3. Broady re signed
4. Brett re signed
5. New centre
6. Gleeson ? fitness and sorting out with fax
7. Youngy (after xmas when proves his fitness)
8. Nixon same (as above)
9. Butler re signed
10. another utility player
