Whilst reading the Stephen Fry thread it got me thinking about celebrities, however minor that I've bumped into in the past.
The most pleasant celeb I ever met was Roy Walker he was an absolute gent, albeit I think that it was my wife's presence that he was interested in initially. He had supper with us and was really nice.
I finally managed to bump into one of my all time heroes; David Jason, he was filming a "Frost" near where I worked in Leeds, he turned out to be a bell end, I suppose it's how you catch them on the day.
I met Stuart Pearce at a Stranglers gig he was as arrogant as they come, giving it the large ones when I attempted to shake his hand and telling a middle aged lady to Foff when she asked for his autograph for her son.
Not all footballers are the same though, I once met Gary Pallister in Portugal, he was a real nice guy.
Once had a pint with Bruce Grobelaar (sp) when he had some association with my local football club good conversation for about 15 mins.
Anyone got any tales to tell about celebrity encounters?

Robert Plant - didn't know who he was, shared a couple of pints with him before somebody told me (sorry Frank). He was good company.
Mark Curry - Much like gingerjon but with even less charm and brains.
Martyn Sadler - Average. Has a beard.
Hannibal - not nearly as abrupt as he'd have you think.
All the members of PWEI circa 1993 - good lads.
Bryan Close - A bore of epic proportions.
Geoff Boycott - good once you get him on to politics.

Mark Viduka - in a lift in Harvey Nicholls - very very nice bloke
David Walliams at Claridges - Very pleasant and had a great picture with him
Fred Dibnah - Absolute legend
Various celebs at the Brit awards all of whom were very very hospitable and friendly...Michael mcintyre, Liz from Atomic Kitten, Abigail Clancy (Jesus!!), Gok Wan, Philip Schofield, Geezer from Bo Selecta who i can't remember (Celebrity Juice fella)
I met Roy Walker as per the OP at a golf day and he was absolutely brilliant
But my fave was sharing breakfast with Robbie Williams in La Manga, depsite what you think he was actually very very nice and even said he loved Rugby League (I had my Cas top on at the time)
I can't beat Mark Curry though

Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.
I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try
Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

I once sat next to David Beckham on a plane from Stansted to Manchester. He sat with his baseball cap on for the entire flight and refused to say a single word. That was back in 2001, IIRC. The airline staff were obviously used to him because they didn't say a word when he got off the plane but they made sure they were very polite to everyone else.

20,000 Roman dead at Lake Trasimeno suggests he might have had a bit of a temper though.

Anna Ford in a lift at the BBC. Lovely lady.
Les Ferdinand and Tim Sherwood at a football do years ago. Both very nice, especially Les.
Paul Merson at another football do. Complete and utter ######.
I'm off to see The Skatalites in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping to meet Lester Sterling and Lloyd Knibb.

Chris Evans - did a voice over for an ad I was producing about 10 years ago. The most professional voice over artist I've ever worked with.
Bryan Robson - one of our clients. A very affable bloke. He phoned me to discuss a job we were working on one Friday evening. I was in the pub with some friends, I said "I'll have to take this, lads - it's Bryan Robson". Stunned reaction.
Clint Boon - I've known Clint for over 20 years (from the days when we were both in Manchester bands). Still see him occasionally. He's just a normal bloke - who gets followed by gangs of kids shouting 'Boon Army!" Again, most affable.
Bridget Forsyth - actress (The Likely Lads - and other stuff). Did the VO on my first ever TV ad. and I've used her a couple of times since. She taught me more about how to direct voice artists than anyone else. Very friendly.
Christopher Lee - was at Magmasters recording studio in London doing a VO for a TV ad. Was sitting in reception reading the paper when a voice said "Excuse me, is this seat taken?" Twas Christopher Lee. We sat and chatted for about 15 mins about the jobs we were there to record, who was involved etc. My mum was big Christopher Lee fan and I mentioned to him that my mum would be very impressed that we'd sat and had a coffee and chatted. When he got the call to go and do his VO he said goodbye and shook my hand. As he departed reception he turned back and said "By the way - give my regards to your mother." A very charming gentleman.
