He balanced the hot areas with the cold areas. the dry areas with the wet areas.
And, in creating Yorkshire, he created the most glorious place on earth - full of majestic beauty and sporting giants.........and for balance he created....... Lancashire.

instead i went to heworth. close game all the way through. heworth's 11 was all over the field taking carriers and making good tackles. the right winger for heworth got smashed when returning a goal line drop out. elland's left centre took him straight off his feet.
ellands number 9 was awesome today and took advantage of the gap between the A's on several occassions in the first half and second half. infact it was his runs, when jumping out from dummy half, that got the eland roll on and enabled them to score 4 tries in the last 10 minutes.
a little bit of a puch up in the second half made good entertainment.
not sure who the man of the matches were but i would have to say 11 for heworth and 9 for elland

LMR 12-4 up at half time, 2nd half was a classic, with LMR looking to fling it about at every opportunity. Looked to be going Pats way when they went 28-24 up with a try and touchline conversion only for LMR to score in the dying moments of the game. A hint of controversy in the 2nd half when Pats had what looked like a perfectly good try disallowed with the ref saying Alker was held up over the line.

But i must confess i spent a lot of time watching Siddal,s A team take on Queens in the Yorkshire cup, and what i saw appalled me . I have spent a lot of time defending Queens saying what a good side they are ,what a mug i have been.
About a minuite before h.t the Quenns no 3 was tackled , got up and headbutted the Siddal player , all the people saw it apart from the ref ,at h.t the Queens players were high fiving the no 3 and giving the gob to the crowd.
At the start of the second half the Queens players gave the call MAD DOGS ,about as scary as being shouted at by Graham Norton , Alan Carr and Dale Winton, A few cheap shots but the Siddal did not back down .
Yes you won the game Queens and won well, but i have finally come to my senses and realised you are just a set of thugs and bullies i will not be defending you again and i hope you one day meet your match.

Check the two videos of the game LMRs and St.Pats,Ref.got it wrong robbed Pats of two well earned points,
Another outstanding performance by Andy Rasburn his worked very hard on his fitness, put two yards on,two tries in two weeks for a prop.he must be in the reckoning for his International re-call,

I thought a draw would have been a fair result myself over all, didn't think either team deserved to lose, the 2nd half was superbly entertaining, LMR certainly threw the ball about.
Andy Rasburns try was superb, not seen much of him play, but for a forward looks like he had a decent turn of pace! Also thought the Scott O' Brien and Mel Alker tries that were scored right in front of were I was stood were superb, both took some scoring.

Game totally overshadowed by a neck injury to a Saddleworth player that resulted in a 40 minute delay and the air ambulance having to land on the field and take the player away.
Really hope the lad is okay and the resultant departure was purely a precaution.

Although East registered their highest score of the season against York Acorn it was nowhere near their best performance,
lacklustre at times would be a fair appraisal and early in the first five minutes of each half Acorn had the opportunity to take control of the game but failed to capitalise on the disorganisation in the East defensive line. That said, East won the game by having a completion rate of over 90%, a standard most pro clubs can’t achieve.
The visitors opened the scoring with a try after only three minutes following some of the poorest defending by the East team over the past eighteen months. Mark Ballard came close to scoring on the ten minute mark but was held short of the line, but it was last weeks opening try scorer Jon Walker who crashed over on sixteen minutes, Adam Holland adding the conversion.
The kick off return is becoming a speciality of East’s and the break by Gary Middlehurst with support from full back Ryan Fieldhouse gave East a 10-4 lead.
East went back to basics playing simple rugby and completing sets, not the most entertaining to watch but definitely effective. It took until the twenty seventh minute for Danny Kilshaw to throw a wild dummy to open the Acorn defensive line for a stroll over the line.
Five minutes late Kilshaw made a break from the East twenty five, with options either side as he crossed the half way line he took the wrong choice of going on his own, the Acorn full back reading his decision, fortunately he managed to find Mark Ballard with a pass as he was going to ground and the final pass to Middlehurst gave East a 20-4 advantage at the interval.
The early stages of the second half were no resemblance of what was on the cards as East looked totally disjointed, Acorn would have scored but for Mark Ballard getting his body between the ground and the ball then John Taylor making the try saving tackle of the game.
Rugby League is a strange game, from looking like contenders to level the game York Acorn were blown from the trees in a thirty minute storm where East racked up an unanswered forty four points.
Following Taylor’s try saving tackle East advanced up the pitch, Kilshaw broke the line then passed to Ballard who kicked around the defensive line into the corner for Andrew Groves to score. Minutes later Danny Kilshaw kicked to the corner and probably the smallest player on the field out jumped the Acorn defence in a volleyball move for Steve Foster to score.
A superb one on one rip by Simon Stevens lead to the next East try for Ryan Fieldhouse before Kilshaw scored another try, showing the ball before shooting through a bemused defensive line. On the hour Gary Middlehurst looked to be running out of play but put in a stylish inside kick which Chris Penn read to perfection to make the score 46-4.
Acorn refused to give up, looking for another score they were undone when Andrew Groves intercepted and raced the length of the field for a try, Chris Penn adding the conversion.
Easts young star of the game nineteen year old forward Lyndon Robertson spent the final twenty minutes of the match totally decimating the opposition, blasting through the line and halting players without any issues and creating the opening for a try by Middlehurst.
The final try displayed absolute skill and awareness, Adam Holland chipping through with Middlehurst collecting the ball and making an outrageous reverse flick which landed in the hands of Ryan Fieldhouse for the final try of the game.
The win retains the fourth position in the league and two points behind the top three, but East have a game in hand and an 87 points advantage on league leaders Thatto Heath.

Number 3 Romeo by name but certainly not nature. can only agree with your comments. Disgusting attack on a player who had just put in a great chase and tackle. We do not need teams in amateur RL who only come to intimidate and win at all costs. Same applies to their bald coach who coulnd`t understand why we were all so incenced by what we had just witnessed. Weak refereeing. If they stick to playing rugby they are a great team.

Of cricket, rugby, beer, of pudding and of cheese
I know no other county where the land is quite so fine
England's lovely county. And I'm proud to call it mine
Where shining purple heather stretches far across the moor
And the lapwing's cry above me takes the place of traffic roar
And peace comes drifting gently, there's no place I'd rather be
Than this land of hills and valleys, from the Pennines to the sea
So when I've done my roaming, and when my step grows slow
When heart and mind assure me that the time has come to go
Then let me rest in Yorkshire, for its there I want to lie
'Neath sun and wind and heather... and a gleaming Yorkshire sky

Leigh Miners had to come from behind twice to snatch a 30-28 local derby victory against Wigan St Pats yesterday in a hard fought contest at Twist Lane. The opening twenty minutes was all Miners as they was camped in the St Pats half of the field applying a lot of pressure but with the visitors working hard and defending strongly Miners only success in that period of pressure was a try in the fourteenth minute by winger Linford Weatherby, Tom Bradbury converting to give the host a 6-0 lead. St Pats hit back with a try out wide by there full back to give the score 6-4. The rest of the half was a tight affair with both teams defending strongly but right on half time Scott O’Brien scored Miners second try with an excellent solo effort, Bradbury converting to give the home side a 12-4 half time lead.
The opening ten minutes of the second half belonged to the visitors as they come out of the sheds very strongly, firstly hooker Gary Philips darted over from dummy half then St Pats took the lead after keeping the ball alive on the last tackle St Pats MOM Melvin Alker went over from a good 30 meters, both tries converted to put Pats 16-12 in front. Miners hit back with a quick fire double scrum half Ryan Smith dropping his shoulder to score followed by a try by Miners MOM Ross Bradley out wide on the right side, both converted by Bradbury to give Miners a eight point cushion at 24-16. The home sides lead didn’t last long when Andy Rasburn charged over to put them within two points and it looked like Pats would grab an important victory soon after when centre Mike Priest scored in the left corner, once again both tries converted to give St Pats a 28-24 advantage. Miners hit back for a second time in the final few minutes when Tom Bradbury scored in the left corner, Bradbury converting his try from the touchline to put the home side back in front by two and they had to defend strongly late on as Pats were looking to get the final score but Miners held on for an important 30-28 victory to keep them joint top of the NCL.
Next week Miners are at home to Skirlaugh.

We (Cas) had our chances but Millom were well worth the win. The young lad who played No 10 at 16 years old was not out of place he played very well. Time to stop moaning to referee's no matter how they do they are not missing tackles.
