I don't think he meant it literally SRC, but my guess is it will cost both des and a club quite alot for something that should've/could've been swept under the carpet before it even began. I'm not a great fan of the guy but I think he was well within his rights to go to tribunal and whatever he was due when he signed his contract, in good faith, he should receive and then some. Being a business man, Des should know that contracts are binding..........and now he knows that its good practice to honour them.

thats the good thing about rugby now if it was football contracts are not worth the paper that they are written on.

Barrow in breach by not paying Henderson when he was suspended. Player due all outstanding contractual payments seems a given, no mention of punative damages as no details have been released regarding the ruling.

There were "allegedly" mitigating circumstances for the decisions the club made, however contractual terms clearly stated Henderson was due payment while suspended, the club decided not to pay him, the tranfer embargo was placed upon ther club as per RFL operating rules and the case went forward to tribunal.

As for your take on it Holty, contracts are, or should be, binding on all parties involved. Barrow RL were allegedly not the only party in breach of the terms of the contract. However the obligations placed upon the parties of employer and employee vary greatly, breach of contract by one is a matter of internal discipline whereas actions by the other come under the remit of employment law.

I just glad the matter is finished with.

Lol. You never disappoint rooster mate. Anyone would think its you that sits and waits for me to post..........just to comment. For my part, I'll endeavour to refrain from commenting on anything remotely concerning Des in the future so you can rest easy and channel your time and effort into more meaningful topics. The matter is, as stated, done and dusted and it should be used as a lesson for future BOD's. If you can find a 'dig at Des' in there Rooster you'll have done well mate..................undoubtedly you will I wager!!!

Back on topic surely as soon as the club knew there was going to be a tribunal they would have retained the money that they would have been paying out just in case they lsot in which case ot shouldn't have cost anything more than they budgeted for.

do they not have human resources within rugby league! We have been a professional sport for such a long time and yet there is still no integrity within clubs, either to protect them or their subordinates

it looks like a very costly learning experience
