Godwin's Law updated for 2010

Before the current paranoia over anything muslim, Godwin's Law was very appropriate, these days though people will blame muslims rather than go for a Hitler/Nazi reference.
As such, any post that, in our subjective opinion, unnecessarily brings in unfavourable references to muslims or islam in a thread that is not specifically to do with muslims or islam will be deleted. If that offends some people's sensibilities and "rights" to free speech then tough, there are forums out there where frothy mouthed rantings about people who are different to you will be tolerated, this isn't one of them.
Money can't buy happiness... but it can buy bacon which is close enough.

You should keep and publish a league table of those posters that have their posts deleted in line with the above.
We could run a sweep on who would be in the top five.
Should I start a thread?

I think you may have missed the bit in bold.

Ooops!! Looking back at that thread, I fear I might have inadvertently caused the thread drift - am I now top of your league table?
If so I bet I will have to work hard to stay there

You wouldn't be anywhere near the top 10.

read the thread again slowly
it has nothing to do with criticising islam or any other relgion. That happens regularly and legitimately. It's to do with invoking islam at any opportunity on just about any kind of thread.
I think all religions are evil, but I don't feel the need to say so when other topics are being discussed.

Not that I have an issue with this particular rule but I don't think the thread in question is a particularly good example of a thread that had little to do with Islam.
There was a clear Islamic reference in the quote by the Tory. It is unlikely that he would have referred to stoning to death had Ms Alibai-Brown not been a Muslim. Most of us see the police reaction as over-the-top policing restricting free speech where there was no genuine incitement to murder. Alibai-Brown's view was that as a Muslim, she would not have been able to get away with defence and so nobody should say it about her. It's hard not to mention Islam in this context.
I can agree that the Poppy comments were off-topic but so were the comments about the EDL targetting a Mosque in Portsmouth and yet that is considered "okay". I can appreciate that the EDL can't be equated to "Muslims" but the Poppy comments were clearly about extremist Muslims rather than the average Muslim.

That way people would compete to make top 5 and threads on 5 Live would end up Islam.
I wouldn't be top 5 for turning subjects unnecessarily to Islam (I'm still tyring to work out how driving without insurance got changed to it but got some idea), but would be top 5 for debating it once the thread turns

You can't debate religion. Because it has no factual basis you can't use logic.
