Is it a bird thing? I can't stand the useless shower and the breathless excitement across the news channels today only made it worse. Seriously, what were we learning from a live helicopter circling Buckingham Palace with a camera?
Oh well, I suppose it 'makes us money from tourism'.
Rumour going around Headingley that Wire will have to play the second half with 12 men.
It seems that they forgot to bring the half time oranges, and Solomona ate Chris Bridge instead.
Don't know why he was hungry, as he looked as though he had eaten the whole youth team before the game started.

Now however, I am just strangely indifferent to it all - at least we will get one more public holiday out of it

If you're an unpopular government Royal Weddings and wars (ideally against jumped up Forrinners over insignificant islands in the South Atlantic) are a godsend.
It's like the early 1980s all over again.

it's all very 'meh' as far as i'm concerned. plenty of people (mainly old women) will be very excited by it all though. the wail and express will be even more unbearable for a while, especially as his mum's ring is on her finger!
good luck to the pair of 'em. if he rounds up all england rugby union captains and red haired cads they may be ok!

I tried to watch the news this evening but lost patience after 15 minutes of dross on this subject.
Money can't buy happiness... but it can buy bacon which is close enough.

Oh and all the newspapers have them on the front page, even the FT. And the BBC have already made a programme about them - "William & Kate - A Royal Engagement"

Any money made from tourism will be dwarfed by the security costs, and other costs.
the royals have no interest in me or the game i love and i have no interest in them. the sooner the UK becomes a republic the happier i and the majority of people will be in my opinion.

I admire your fortitude, twas 14 minutes more than I could bare. I mean once they have said they are engaged, what else is there to say (of any meaning)? 1 minute of news, 14 minutes of twaddle. And of course there is nothing else going on in the world of any importance.

Perhaps William wears a handful of these when he's knocking one out.
The things you're guaranteed under a tory government are mass unemployment, riots and a smokescreen royal wedding as a panacea for the country's ills.
