, in this day and age of sport sponsorship, sports are crying out and are hard to come by, why would they drop Qants over the A380 engines, as if they travel all round the world or something , they wouldn't even jump in an A380 to go from Melbourne to Sydney lol.
it is clearly a better deal to save money than flying with qantas

AFL dumps Qantas as safety fears force engine swap on global A380 fleet
THE AFL has dumped Qantas as its official carrier in a multi-million dollar blow to the airline.
It has turned to Virgin Blue after a nine-year association with the Flying Kangaroo. The new arrangement - believed to be worth $5-6 million annually - will take effect from next month, the Herald Sun reports.
Industry sources said last night the two offers were comparable, but the AFL had demanded exclusivity from Qantas, which has ongoing commercial arrangements with soccer, rugby and rugby league.
Virgin Blue is believed to have promised to refrain from any arrangement with any other football code in return for the business of Australia's biggest sport.
