whats going on with the current side? that is probably one of the weakest rep sides i have seen for a long time? how does a coach pick that side? i could pick a complete different 17 which i think would beat that side. not one player from siddal, miners,thatto,leigh east, all of which are topping the table. Missing big names such as kilshaw,pendlebury,middlehurst,spence,wildbore,corfield?? anyone know the reasons? why arnt players such as o'brian given a chance?no disrespect to the lads from the army but im sure there are better players playing in the conference. so why is the coach not picking the team based on the best players? if they are the best than thats fair enough but i really do doubt that they are!!

Don't take it too seriously Dave, and by the way don't just pick on the Army lads, as there's more than a few who shouldn't be in a rep side from Conference clubs.

Personally I find it a massive insult that even with a load of players missing the "weakened" squad still does not include any players from Cumbria! What are the rules on ex pros in the community lions team as I thought it was only players who returned under 21?

“There are a lot of new faces in the side and it’s great that we can call-up more players to represent the Community Lions and give them the opportunity to test themselves at international level,” said Taylor.

“Due to Leigh East travelling to France to play in the European Championship and also Lancashire touring Malta recently, several players I had in mind for the game have not been available due to work commitments, plus there’s also a few who are unavailable due to injury.”

“However, this has only served as an opportunity to widen our talent pool as we look to develop the squad and I really do see this game as the start of a re-building phase for the side.”

“We’re scheduled to play France at home in March and then moving forward there will be future tours planned so the message to all community players is that the opportunities are there for them.”

with it been the end of the year , a lot of the boys carnt get another 5 days off work with having 2 weeks for south africa in the summer, also lots of the lads have injuries

Looks like we lost 24 - 6 but a good report on the RFL website.It seems the French squad had several Super League players and featured many destined fot their 2013 World Cup Squad
