Well having spoken to him last night and his agent then double checking with the Chairman I feel quite confident - but I haven't seen a medical certificate so continue with your doom mongering - it is far better than appreciating a cracking signing

I would think that if anyone on this forum knows Dave does (as he is on the Board of Directors) !!

I presume he's passed a medical 100% fit.

Superb signing. I can't believe there are posters who even slag this one off. UNBELIEVABLE !

I apologise, I wasnt aware of his position at the club.
Well done BoD, what a signing!

Nathan is a class player and that's fair enough but to start the season with one recognised number nine would be sheer folly!!! rolleyes.gif We were short on numbers last season and look what happened. Another great, high quality signing.

Who in all reality did you think would have been a better signing of the current number 9s out there kid?

Not so long ago a signing of this stature, along with Thackery would have been a pipe dream for Barrow. Same with the Coaches, Schofield and Wright. Had Brian Noble got the job someone would have been on here saying "Why spend all that money on a coach?" "What has he won at Wigan and Crusaders?" Guaranteed.

I think its time some stopped and appreciated what we have got here and not keep trying to pick little holes in everything. Given the budgets, constraints and what we have to work with the Board, Club Staff and volunteers are doing a bloody marvellous job!

Couldn't agree more... The calibre of signings over the last few years have been exceptional and in some cases beyond belief. Keep doing what you are doing BOD. Ignore the doubters.. They are all probably a little bit "starstruck" at players they are used to only seeing wink.gif on TV !

Damn good signing in my opinion. Gleeson is rapid out of dummy half and his passing game is excellent. Will benefit from the likes of Thackery, Ostler and Knowles running off him and hopefully getting a quick play the ball for him to exploit defensive lapses. Only downside with the lad is his relativly small stature. Having said that, i played alongside him at Warrington Wolves a few years back and he never let us down in the defensive side. Again, another step in the right direction. Well done.

Wow soe people do amaze me on this forum. It makes me wonder if half of you are actually fans.

Great signing and more importantly somebody to rotate with mossop which we didn't have at the back end of last season.

Well done BOD.

Unbelievable is the word...some posters just don't want to see or hear anything good about the club...they make me puke!!
if Des and the rest of the board upped sticks I wouldn't blame them at all...there is just no pleasing some people

Got to agree, a very good signing, especially considering the pivotal role he could play within the side, his age and his pedigree. Just hope he manages to stay injury-free.

Certainly hope not. Much rather have mossop starting than him.

MG's an international for heavens sake, as good as Mossy is he has a lot to learn and attain... before he reaches Gleesons standard

but he will, I think, learn a lot from this signing

Another top calibre signing, well done BOD. He's only small but Andy Ellis wasn't the biggest either and look how he went. I'm really starting to look forward to next season now. Unfortunatly you can't please everyone, some people aren't happy unless they are having a moan!

Mark Gleeson was always a name I'd look out for when browsing the Halifax teamsheet ahead of games against us. He's a great 9; offers great movement and acceleration from dummy half and will link up really well with our impact-runners, e.g. Ostler, Fletcher, Thackary. In him and Mossop we potentially have the most lethal hooker pairing outside Super League.

Listened to Schofield on Radio Cumbria, he gave a good interview with open flowing Rugby promised and total comitment from Nigel Wright Monday-Friday. He said he will have 4 leaders on the pitch Full Back, Hooker, Stand Off & Scrum Half who will be surounded by a quality squad. He did mention Broadbent, Gleeson, Rooney & Cambell. He also said he feels he needs to get the remainder of the players signed and would only go into the market if he feels it would strenghen the team not make up the numbers. On this he said the fans will be happy with the flowing rugby which will be his winning formula with the pace of Ballard and Nixon he wants the backs to see the ball at all times. Give the coaches the backing and I for 1 want to see the ball being moved not up the middle ###### we seen last year. He reckond Matt James and Thackery will be the best Props outside SL.

  1. Gary Broadbent (get him signed)
  2. Andrew Ballard
  3. Zebastian Luisi
  4. Liam Harrison (get him fit)
  5. James Nixon
  6. Jamie Rooney
  7. Liam Campbell
  8. Jamie Thackray
  9. Mark Gleeson
  10. Matthew James
  11. Ned Catic
  12. Martin Ostler
  13. Paul Cook (its being talked about)
  14. Brett McDermott (get him signed)
  15. Richard Fletcher
  16. Michael Knowles
  17. Nathan Mossop

Butler, Larkin, Williams,

Coyle on way out.
Could do with another 2 players, maybe Young will come back if fit.

This is a fantastic squad of players who fit could destroy most teams. Best of look Nigel & Gary lets get behind them. rolleyes.gif

I dont mind him coming to the club I would rather just see Mossop playing as much game time as he can. I can see gleeson getting maybe 60 minutes a game a mossop only getting 20 minutes towards the end or maybe not coming on at all. Rather see cumbrian players for barrow than people who drift along the M62 going from club to club.

Last season young Nathan had to keep playing 80 mins and his game and the team suffered a little. We tried one of the great DL players but he was a bit of a let down.

Now we've gone out and got a top class hooker who will be able to spell Nathan ( I'm sure 20 / 20 each half ) - good for the team, good for Nathan.

Can't see why it is a bad thing !!

Two fantastic signings, Gleeson has always been in my eyes one of the best hookers outside of super league and is also veryexperianced at the top level. Thackray is a big unit and will certainly make some yards everytime he gets the ball. Keep them coming !!!
