Is there a Ladies team for the area at the moment?

My wife has played Union and League before and would like a game but can't commit to training very often due to our little one

Any help and smarty pants replies appreciated! tongue.gif

There is a group af girls got together but at the moment its just touch rugby. It is organised/coached by Alan Goodings who is the Barrow Community Coach, give him a ring on 07794914938 for more info. Think the closest ladies teams playing full contact league is Copeland to the north or Warrington or Halton to the south which are all at least an hour and half in the car.

i don't know if it was the case here but my experience of the ladies game is that its been very much driven towards the elite rather than participation. The whole womens game very nearly disappeared from view a few years ago!

as we know its a very hard game to play and a lot of women take the game very seriously so with so few teams and players you would quite often see a novice pitched in against an England international

I hope something can be set up and wish we had the time to help but at the moment my wife could commit to weekends only so i'll get in touch with Al Goodings and take it from there!

Hi
Im involved with Barrow FRLC (Female rugby league club). At the moment we only play touch, we train once a week at Hoops in Barrow Wednesdays from 7.30-9pm jst a matter of turning up to training biggrin.gif.
We have a variety of levels of players from beginners to quite experienced ex Barrow Ladies. All girls over 12 are welcome to train with us however only over 14's can play with us at the moment. Our future aim is to have all age groups from under 8's playing touch and full contact. Hope this helps.
