Taken off the website, good news indeed - Brett McDermott is the latest player to sign for the Barrow Raiders as the squad continues to build towards the 2011 campaign.
The 32 year old prop was first signed to Barrow in 1995, and after spells at Workington and Whitehaven rejoined his home town club. This year he has been enjoying a much deserved benefit season.
Vice Chairman Jon Livesey said, “The club is delighted to have secured the services of Brett once again. He never gives less than his best out on the pitch, off it he is an excellent ambassador for the club and the game. He can be seen after every game signing autographs and posing for photographs with fans. He always makes time for the younger supporters and is a regular at the presentation evenings of the local amateur clubs. He enjoys a cult status with many fans and is still a force out on the field”

Great news, our pack is starting to take an impressive shape for next season:
James, Thackary, McDermott
Catic, Knowles, Fletcher, Ostler
Luisi
If we can get Butler signed up as well as a fit Chris Young, we will be looking pretty handy

Definately, 2 quality hookers!
I just feel we need Butler and Young signed up to provide that extra depth when the injuries happen, which they undoubtedly will

I agree that we need two more props. We have released 2Bobs and Bracek and haven't yet offered a contract to Youngy, so on paper we're still 2 props down on last year.
