I see they're not getting on very well. Let's hope it doesn't escalate, as sure as eggs are eggs the US will want to pile in too.

I've been to South Korea twice. I find them easy people to get on with. They regard themselves in character as the Asian equivalent of the Irish. Presumably because they were a Japanese colony. I certainly hope for the sake of people I know there that things don't get any worse. Certainly in the South they never struck me as being partiuclarly agressive. But the tone of the North's radio sounded very agressive.

The US are there in big numbers already, it wont take much to hit a US base/target. Plus a bucket of instant sunshine sent over the border won't discriminate US from Korean.

The North have big numbers but the South have the better firepower. However the North would be less worried about the casualties as the South has very western outlook.

China are turning away from full on support of something they recognise is a problem for them.

Strange world we live in.
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

They're there in huge numbers! Mainly in Seoul, which you'd expect would be the target considering it's close (ish) to the border.

China will not defend North Korea.

Strange goings on ...

*I remember being on a quiet beach having a few beers one weekend close to the border, a few helicopter landings later we were told to go home as soon as possible.

Let's hope that this is widely understood and accepted by both the North Koreans and the trigger happy burger munching yanks.

I think if the south or USA went for a pre-emptive strike china would be dragged into it (if only supplying arms, etc). I don't think China want the hassle, they are quite happily becoming an economic superpower with out their backward cousin upsetting the markets they are now reliant on.

To be fair I'm not sure Obama would start a war, Bush probably would have.

South Korea and possibly even Japan may start a nuclear weapons programme as a result

Fair point, more something they would have fought in the Cold War (as we did in fact once).

The nukes point is why much as Iran having nukes is bad for everyone else it makes perfect sense for them

Japan will not start a nuke programme for obvious historical reasons.

There are calls to change that now due to the North Korean threat
