Hi,i was at training tonight and there were a few new faces and some i cannot mention at the moment. The biggest dissapointment was when i was talking to liam finch,he has had the operation and quite simply it has not gone well for him,he will be out for at least 12 months and his surgeon actually recommended him to give up the game altogether, but liam being liam said i will not go down without a fight and vows to be back next year, what a bloody shame, the lad is gutted about it,but knowing liam he will be back in the town colours next season. You will be a big miss liam, hope you achieve what you have set yourself to do and come back strong.

We have Kaighan and Bainbridge and I'm sure Carter could be used at 6 as well and who knows we might even get the old lad back from Barrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Shame bout Finch, i've thought all along that we're still short of ball-players and backs, early set backs like this might prompt the BOD to act.
Holt is one option but I think he was always gonna be classed as a back up option.
Trouty, Where do the lads train? Do they not bother with Copeland stadium anymore (I think I'm right in saying they trained there on the odd ocasion)

I have been concerned with respect to the stand off position as I believe this is the main pivot in the team.
This position needs filling with an experienced, quick thinking mobile player who has a good passing and kicking game.
The old lad from Barrow will be another year older this season, he must be coming up to my age??!! Arnie

All the top teams in our league have an experienced half-back to lead them around the paddock and Holty is one of the best. He is 3 yards faster in his thinking than many younger players and can bring on the younger lads in the squad plus he's only 34 for goodness sake not yet a pensioner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh, why's that? I am chilled thanks. Just stating that at 34 he isn't exactly an old man and can still do a good job for Town. Yes, it would be great to get a budding Sam Tompkins signed up but it's finding them and until then lets go with what we know and can trust.
There's still many a good tune played on an old fiddle, you know.
