We know where up against it but.....so are your mob, ain't got out against the Hawks as most Hunslet fans will know that, but there seems to be much banging of chests and a higher expectation than that of us Knights fans. A fair amount of you seem to expect that the Hawks WILL stay up and do ok and make a mark in this division, but last seasons superb year means nothing..... sweat FA.
Much as I hope both the Hawks and the Knights both stay up just to prove a point, I really believe that both clubs will struggle to adjust and in the end maybe fail....sorry!!

i agree its gonna be a long hard struggle for both our teams, id be more than happy to finish 1 place above the relegation places and even that looks like that will be a superb season.. 1 think i think hunslet really need to do is hit the gym hard cause most of our players were carrying to much weight last season.

good luck to both hunslet and the baby whinos next season

Well said Macca, just hope both sides can compete early doors part of the season and both stay in contact with the rest of the League, because if they both get a few early hammerings and get cut adrift then it's gonna be a long long season.
One thing that both side will not lack with Paul March and Woodsy in charge at both clubs is, passion, effort and team spirit, and it's them qualitys that could see either club cut it and survive at this high standard level.

Best of luck to both clubs

The bottom line for every team in this division is that there will be ups and downs for everyone as the quality is pretty high, and has been said a million times, any team can beat any other in this division.
Teams need to stay positive and try to remain consistent.

As for other supporters coming on here and havoing a go at you lot for predicting you will stay up. . . well what do they expect you to do? If supporters are being depressed before the start of the season, what hope do you have.

Good luck, and enjoy the ride!

Wishfull thinking irrespective of your opinion on frank drebin......you will not be getting your points from Batley this season they will be far too strong and fast for you. Call me biased but we have never had a stronger squad for quite some time

Can you inform me how 'the weakest squad by a long way' are getting on with their pre-season training ? Are you able to identify which of the York City Knights players are not as fast or as strong as those who may possibly be registered as Batley players for the 2011 campaign ? I don't think your prediction abilities are that strong or you may choose to win the lottery in preference to coming onto this forum and using insulting terms.

are you serious.......i would guess they are probably going as good as the rest of the teams in pre season so whats your point.......the problem is the majority are not to that standard mate so they can train as hard as they want, get as fit as they have ever been but are you saying if they have a great pre season they will conquer all put before them ? get real mate. I like york as a club and enjoy the occasional jaunt there when i have a free weekend but i really think the gulf will be too wide sorry

How dare we look forward to next season with a bit of confidence. We should all hang our heads in shame and just accept we're going to get relegated before we even start. All this coming from supporters of a team who've only really stayed in that divison over the last few years due to other clubs misfortune/mismanagement and the structure of the league. You're Batley mate, not St. Helens.

Some interesting opinions but i cant see halifax doing the same next year. if dewsbury and batley are anything like last season everybody beware, they are tougher than results made out. As for York and hunslet 2 good sides that will give it there all and be hard teams to turn over.
If the last couple of years are anything to go by then league predictions are pointless as anyone can win it. plus you dont have to finish top to win it anyway as we saw only in september.

Good luck to all teams involved next season. biggrin.gif

Fev fan.

Looks like we'll be knackered before we start, 644 miles
travelling for our 2 NR Cup away games compared with
Batley's 42 miles.................................

Stop blubbing and get a grip, for heaven's sake.
Are you going to be walking the 644 miles?
Look on the positive side - travel's supposed to broaden the mind.

Think you need more than travel for your mind...

But you would be very welcome to contribute to
the cost of the travelling for us Knights fans, due
to the fact we make a massive effort to go to every
game wherever it is.

OK, putting flippancy aside, you make a valid point about the travel.
Batley had to play Whitehaven & Gateshead away last year in the NRC. As both htese games had to be rearranged to an evening kick off, gates & revenue must have suffered.

On the other hand in an earlier format, when we played "local" teams home & away, we ended up playing Dewsbury six times in the season (Boxing Day friendly, NRC x 2 league x2 and Challenge Cup) - and that just got boring.

There must be a sensible compromise, though.

Like Hunslet given Oldham and Sheffield away as opposed to York getting Barrow and London away? That is defo not a compromise!! Hunslet also play us on Good Friday and have no game Easter Monday. York have to get to Toulouse for Monday. That weekend is surely when the French team should have one of their weekends off?

TBF, it's just the luck of the draw I guess. As SJS states, Batley had a pretty rubbish opening to the NRC last year, doing midweek trips to both Gateshead and Whitehaven, so we've had our share. Perhaps you'll get an easier ride in 2012 to make up for it. On a positive for York, we started the NRC with two lengthy away trips and look what happened after that! It might be the Knights' year! wink.gif
