A bye in the first week of the league and once again, we get 2 away games to finish the season.
(Plus I'm away on hols for the Fev game in the NR Cup grrrr)

Easter looks tasty, Leigh (A) on good friday, then Widnes (H) on easter monday !!!!
A tough run in April/May - Featherstone, Leigh, Widnes, Halifax.
Toulouse away (Sep 3rd) last game of regular season..................at least it'll be warmer than last year !
Quite a tough NRC group I reckon - York, Rochdale, Featherstone, Dewsbury.

I think Widnes have 2 of each.
How can this be fair ? Fax should walk through given their fixtures.
It has pretty much been proved that in the NR Cup you need to win 3 out of 4 to go through.

You take the rough with the smooth. Sometimes you get favourable draws, sometimes you don't.
On the day, we can beat anyone, home or away. On the day, anyone can beat us home or away.
Bring it on, I say.

At first I to thought it rather unfair to have the fixtures in the Northern Rail we have compared to those of Halifax.
But look on the bright side a home tie aginst Fev is a good crowd puller and better than having a lowly Champ 1. side. The Fax fans may be anticipating a walk over but the Directors will be worrying about the numbers through the gates.
As rightly said you have to take the rough with the smooth.

So are there not 2 pools like last year then, as only 10 Championship and 9 Championship 1 teams competing? What is the criteria for qualifying for quarter finals? Is it just top 8 teams and then open draw? All a bit farcical really with locations and uneven leagues, but giving Fax 3 teams from a lower league is having a laugh.

Followed by a Superleague game Saints or Wigan maybe.

Is it just me or does this seem like the longest off season ever?

Why is it stupid?, when fixtures are released you will always have swings and roundabouts

Its obviously to fit in with Sky, and as its a bank holiday it could be achievable. AND, you have been given 5 months notice of it, so its not really that bad.

I think you will find that they didnt give us 3 teams from a lower league. There are two pools of team and each team has two home and two away games. These were done by means of a draw, so it could have worked out that we got all Championship sides, but that is the luck of the draw. However that said, fax went out of the Northern Rail cup to a Championship 1 side last year (Hunslet) so will not take any game lightly and as the top four in each group progresses into the open draw, you should have no real issue.

It is obvious the Pools have been seeded. The draws also appear not to be random, apart from the distinct lack of consistency in travelling - See where York have to visit compared to Batley and Hunslet! It should be a level playing field as most teams are part-time. Its not like Soooper League or football.

Nothing to do with Sky. Sky will show Hull derby & Wigan v Saints on Good Friday.
