Just watching the third one.

All very well acted but the fact that the stories are a little unbelieveable gets on my nerves

A complete lack of investigation by anyone in all 3 episodes! it all seems pretty basic stuff!

acting very very good but stories just spoiling my enjoyment a little

edited for potential spoiler for anyone recording it!

Surely you don't expect anything approaching reality? This is written by Jimmy McGovern after all!!!

I watched the first 10 minutes or so of the first episode and thought it wasn't worth the effort.

Was that the thing with Juliet Stevenson in? She's one of those actresses who gets all these serious gigs and we're supposed to coo and fuss about how good she is, but in reality she's as wooden as Jake the Peg's leg.

See also Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Gina McKee and any actor that's ever been in anything described by the BBC as a "major new drama from Steven Poliakoff"

I can't do with Gina McKee. She has this faint smile all the time that sems to sasy that she's suffering some dep pain, but is trying her best to hide it.

These dramas deal with important, relevant and interesting topics. It's a shame they are so full of holes and obvious yet unanswered questions.
So far I've enjoyed McEnzie Crook's performance, and last night Peter Capaildi, who can do no wrong in my eyes anyway was superb

I think going for a series of dramas on a single theme was a mistake. Unlike the excellent 'The Street' series, where the storylines and characters are interwoven, the material for 'Accused' seems too thinly spread. The issues are there and are particularly poignant given the ConDems rationalisation of Legal Aid, but the characters are one dimensional and the worthiness "insists upon itself". I also got the impression last night that McGovern has been trying to write a clown into a script ever since he saw 'Brassed Off'.

a clown that walks unchallenged in to a courtroom and is allowed to give a five minute speech to the jury before the judge decides he should get rid of him!

Depends if her husband can square it away with the Chief Constable ph34r.gif

Maybe the husband had to get it squared away with the judge instead as the Chief Constable wasn't of that persuasion.

I think it's been one of the better drama series of late.

The idea explores how any "normal", law-abiding citizen can find themselves in a situation such as those presented given circumstances such as poor financial situation, revenge, injustice, abuse and domestic pressure.

I quite like the idea that he takes people from working-class backgrounds, adds a bit of pressure and explores what could potentially happen to any of us and (understandably) our emotional resonse to those situations.....

Were his ideas that far-fetched?

his ideas weren't far fetched. perhaps i'm having too much faith in the police and the criminal justice system!

perhaps the police do "investigate" as much as he suggests they do!
