Yes I think I would! Euro 96 was great when I stilled lived in Manchester, we used to go into town have a few watch the game and have a laugh. It was a great atmosphere and along with the World Cup will come Brazilian lasses.......How can that not be worth having?

Hopefully Plymouth will be hosting some games.

No.

Jingoistic overload and even more funds directed away from rugby league (amongst others). The RL season that year will be a write-off.

Even more chavs having a skinful and going home to commit domestic abuse. Xenophobia at record levels.

The golden trio of Cameron, Beckham and Prince William giving FIFA members a good rimming today has brought the bile to the back of my throat.
Astute analysis from a Wigan fan:

Rumour going around Headingley that Wire will have to play the second half with 12 men.

It seems that they forgot to bring the half time oranges, and Solomona ate Chris Bridge instead.

Don't know why he was hungry, as he looked as though he had eaten the whole youth team before the game started.

Yes, provided it is brought here on the right terms and that it brings some economic benefit to this country.

If FIFA insist on imposing their onerous demands regarding revenues, taxes, etc the we should tell them to keep it, as it is likely that no benefits would accrue to this country.

I think it has been really funny watching Wills, Cameron, Becks and Lineker playing the "I-know-my-place" game this week in an attempt to win the competition for obvious political reasons.

What has been less funny has been the criticism of the BBC's investigation into FIFA corruption and their setting up as the scapegoat should the bid fail. If what the BBC has alleged is true then we should tell FIFA to shove off and come back when their house is in order rather tham w@nking off their egos in trying to win the bid.
This aspect has been typical of the way politicians operate in this country - line up first to take the credit if things work out but make sure that someone else is in the firing line should things go belly-up. Well, at least like Cameron says, we are all in it together - yeah, sure we are.

Beckhams speech has gone down well

A lot of Yorkshiremen believe that when God created the world, he made it with perfect balance.
He balanced the hot areas with the cold areas. the dry areas with the wet areas.
And, in creating Yorkshire, he created the most glorious place on earth - full of majestic beauty and sporting giants.........and for balance he created....... Lancashire.

...and that Russia will get the nod.

FIFA to go with the country where investigative journalists are intimidated, assaulted and worse? Surely not? dry.gif

If FIFA were worried about the British press if we won it....god help them if we did go out in round 1.
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Whilst I couldn't care less whether we win or not, I do find it strange that it seems to be a disadvantage that England already have the infrastructure in place when Russia will pretty much have to build everything.

The only man smiling in the auditorium is Roman Abramovich.

Whether that's because of the bid or his bank balance... I don't know.

From Press Association: England have been defeated in their bid to host the 2018 World Cup after not making it to the final round of voting.
