Story in tonight's NW Evening Mail says that GB is out of contract now and hasn't been offered new terms by Barrow and because their Chairman is in Oz and wont be back until near Christmas he might look to start pre-season with another club. Have we any seats left on the Barrow bus? He would be a hell of a player for us.

Chris Young has signed for Halifax and Jamie Butler hasn't yet been offered terms at Barrow either.

While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Slightly wrong Keith,
Jamie and Gary have not agreed terms(as was the case with Brett who collared Des before he went away and negotiated slightly different terms)

Okay red box, I'm partly wrong and partly right!!! If he has been offered terms and no agreement has been reached he obviously was looking for a new offer which he hasn't been able to negotiate because Des is away.
Hows that? Anyhow he would be a good acquisition for us. wink.gif wink.gif

All I meant was that you would not be nogetiating with some one who hasn't had a contract offered i.e. won't be going cheap because he is not wanted.

i honestly cant see town affording gary, and to be honest if we can afford another high wage a stand off would be the better option.and i think broadbent is a great player but we have a better full back in carter.

I agree... a stand-off is our priority.... and we have a good full-back in Carter.

Do you not think that Carter would make a good stand off? He is an inteligent player and very elusive. Arnie

Quite agree arnold,he would be a very good stand off with his pace and his ability to read the game from the middle of the park, but i think broady would be to expensive for town and haven unless popeye the sailor begs some other money from his sponsor. mad.gif glare.gif glare.gif

i think bretts so good,he could play in a number of positions, but if were serious about winning the division then a specialised experienced half back is key.remember kaighan is only a young lad and would benefit from a bit of experience and guidance to help him.playing brett in there would also take something away from his game,i honestly dont think theres another full back who can return the ball like brett from deep,in our division or the one above, and i would include broady in that.if we have injuries then brett could fill in but for the big games then i would like a new face in there

Come on guys you can't be serious, Brett is a class player, but to say he is better or as good as Broady is laughable. In time he could well be, but he still has a lot to learn and is only a young lad. Broady is without doubt the best full back outside of super league.

Talking defensively I agree. Talking offensively I don't. No offence meant tongue.gif
