PC Issues: Helpdesk time

When Media player opens, then triggers virus software, I get some corrupted or obfuscated file messages, and the Java logo appears bottom right on the task bar.
So, one of my Java up-dates is a bogus one, and causing me issues.
I got a fecked file, how do I shift it? Or find it?
If I completely delete JAVA and go get a new version will it cure my issues?
What effect will running without Java have?
Erm, help.

Was I awake?
Deleted every Java file on here, then re-installed a new version.
Seems improved at present.
Still doesn't explain why I only got the pop-ups and corrupt media downloads from this site only, though.
I could go on any other site* with no issues.
*artistic interest sites excepted.

Have you tried Malwarebytes?
It's free, just google it. Shifts most nasties.

So, removed malwarebytes and "tried" Stopzilla, telling it I'd register/buy later.
That found the highjacker bugs, plus over 100 other things (though tbh, they were toolbars/cookies mostly) and when I decided to uninstall it, it took the bugs away.
Avira dealt with openconnect, the latest threat.

Wouldn't know where to start, and I'd need an OS to put back, which I lack.

It's why I nurse it along.
OS is legit.
Just don't have a disk for it.
Got a new pc sat behind me, guess what, no OS on it....
This is behaving and hanging in there, so will make do for now.

Got to agree with Lee, mate. Get the professionals in. My local shop sorted my PC out, saved all old files, reformatted the hard disc and loaded XP plus a load of other software all for €50.
My PC works great now, only problem is they loaded a later version of XP than I have, so I now get a warning at start-up about Windows Genuine Advantage. I've tried using my XP disc, but the version is older than the one installed, so the OS refuses to acknowledge it. Bloody Windows!
