Is anyone able to list the squad so far broken down into positions?

We still dont have a compelte squad whereas other teams in our division appear to have finished recruiting and are well into their pre season. Have our guys stared pre season yet?

Furthermore any updates on new kits? Again we appear to be the last in the division to have ours - would love to be able to buy one for my kids xmas presents?

Todays MEN sport says "Swinton new boy Carl Forber chose the Lions ahead of Oldham and Keighley" unquote.
Steve Macormack and his plans a big influence...How are Swinton doing it on their gates and overheads?
They certainly look like the team to beat (on Paper)so far!

McNamara is the England coach you idiot. McCormack is Swinton's coach.

I'm glad we haven't signed Forber. He's decent but no better than Ashe last year and I reckon we're looking to step up from his level.

In terms of the squad we are still very light unless we are going to rely on a few of the reserves to make the step up like Walker,Diveney. Hopefully POC,Kerr and Foggy (when his ban is over) sign and if they do we should have a great chance of the league.

Walker and Diveney have signed contracts and are regarded as 1st team squad now, but we are still seriously short in the halves with only Rats and Diveney on board at the moment.

We could do with a full back, hopefully POC, and another half back to compliment Ratty as Diveney isn't quite ready to make the scrum half jersey his own just yet although from what I have seem of him he certainly has the talent.

The backs look good if Foggy signs after his ban. We have the best two wingers in the league and should have three quality centres in St Hilaire,Foggy and Woodcock with plenty of back up in Bradbury and Fogarty.

The back row looks good with Walker,Clarke,Woods,Isherwood and Bentley. Heaton could also do a shift here although I would prefer him in the backs.

The front row is a bit worrying. The hooking department looks to be superb with the signing of Clough to compliment the ever improving Whitmore and Mansfield. The props aren't quite there at the minute. Boults and Ellison won't let us down. Sutton will be top quality if he can stay fit but after that we look very thin. Gilchrist is an unknown quality and the props from the reserves are still a few years away from being ready in my opinion.

There's a lot of positives to be had from the squad so far and with a few quality additions we should be aiming for the top.

If that is the case, surely that is a step backwards in terms of quality. Think he has the ability to play at CC level but not likelt to get there if playing amateur rugby in Ireland?

Mate of mine told me this morning that, according to the trade press, Wayne Kerr has gone to play Rugy Union in Ireland and Ian Hodson and Matty Ashe have been released. With just under 3 weeks to go to the Law Cup game, at least another (preferably experienced) half back and a forward are a necessity, in my opinion, or have we signed em already and the usual, annual drip feeding is taking place.

According to my calculations we only have a first team squad of 22 at present (assumes young Matty Fogerty starts in reserves). That is too small in my opinion most teams even in our league seem to run with between 25 and 28 players.

Think we need a fullback unless we are going to use either Junior or Heaton there, still haven't seen news of POC having signed elsewhere. Junior has the positional sense but perhaps not the pace anymore and see him taking a lesser role this year than last. Liked Heaton as a centre when he first came into the team, understand he has played fullback through his earlier days and he may be worth a run, but ideally would like to see POC back again.

Agree, we need 2 more halves, but just don't see where they are coming from, Tom Hemingway still available but may be going to Australia.

Think we need another Prop as Gilchrist is unproven and I think may play more in the reserves, which only leaves us 3 specialist props, Clarke could fill in there as well.

Also think we need at least one backrower, if Clarke is pushed forward to prop and Heaton used at fullback only leaves us 3 second rowers in Isherwood, Woods and Walker

This would be 5 further additions to the squad (FB,SO,SH,PR and SR) would take us to a first team squad of 27 which I think is nearer the mark, but I think this is my wish list to Santa as I don't see it happening.

I am concerned at this point over the strength in depth. Seem to recall saying something similar last year though. Would like to see a few more on board before the Rochdale game though.

You wont see anything in the trade press about Wayne and if you do its more than likely released by the club because i know he hasnt spoken to anyone, but yes its true he will be playing Union at a higher level than he was before but he will also be playing League, so i guess he will be fitter than ever playing all year round, irelands gain oldhams loss

Well, only one signing so far this month (Rats), disapointed with this, surely the club cant think that its squad complete with only 22 players on board, only 2 halfbacks - one of whom is inexperienced, no recognised fullback?

Swinton have got 28 on board (announced Ian Mort from Leigh a couple of days ago, another decent player), Rochdale have listed a squad of 28 with six further players on trial?

Accept we have a reserve team, but don't see many others in this squad, ready to step up yet. Although hope Cadd gets a run in the pre-season games, bit suprised he hasn't been offered a contract as did well last year and stepped up to train with the first team, as did Ali Williams who is now contracted. In my opinion we are still short in the props department.

Anyway, hope there is some better news of new signings soon (before Christmas) as we are only 2 weeks away from the Rochdale game, although if cold weather stays fixture looks unlikely.

He probably wasnt playing against York forwards! thought he went missing in the final when we really needed to stand up, if im not wrong I think he got crunched early on in the game and he wasnt to be seen again! mind you I dont think he was on his own.
