Hi,i was talking to a high ranking director last night about signings and i asked him about john patrick,he told me the lad had signed for town 2months ago.I also asked about broadbent but he just said they had not approached him,and i agree with him,i also mentioned about a stand off but he gave me a reply and which again i agreed with him about,i think he was talking about maybe carter at 6 and jon lebbon at 1,not a bad pair up,but, i would have liked a good no6 from aussie or nz but overall i can understand how much money the club has spent on new players and of course stacky that maybe an overseas player would cost a fair bit of money.I think the club has spent well for this season and i hope the stay away fans and the players do their bit to justify the boards spending for the club.

Thanks for that update Troutmaster. I agree with you that we need to mobilise the stay away fans this year and get them behind the club. It would help if we go to the Rec on Boxing Day and put in a great performance. Last year when we got stuffed 60 - 6 stopped a lot of momentum with certain fans just the same as when we went to the Rec under Ged Stokes and he put out a reserve team. Those sort of performances do untold damage to the return of potential fans who see it as the same old, same old Town letting fans hopes down again. The directors are doing the best they can to get us going and we need everyone, including the press, to build up our likely prospects for the season and get the sort of response we got under Ray Ashton's years.
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

i agree with the spending, but i would stick with carter at full back and keep the partnership of holt and kaighan at halfs with bamber as back up.ive never rated lebbon,as the main thing a full back needs is a lot of bottle and not afraid to take a hit to stop a man charging down on him(something carter seems to enjoy),and sadly john hasnt shown this from when i have seen him play and thats all i can judge him on.
