William Hills have slashed the odds on a general election next year from 20/1 to 4/1.
The local elections will be very interesting .The libdems look like getting a pounding.

Yes they will. They have a lot of proposals to see enacted into legislation.

Bring it on. I have great hopes for this. May it wash away the foul layer of authoritarian slime which the last Labour government tried to suffocate us into frightened obedience with. That and being complicit in enslaving us with debt just for wanting a decent roof over our heads..

I disagree, i can see them becomming the main opposition after the unions forcing their guy to the top of the labour party which if hes still there by the next eclection will make them totally unelectable. Hate to say it but i can see it comming down to a choice of the Cons or the Cons with yellow ties at the next election.

Whilst not being averse to this in principle, I'm not convinced it will come to pass.
However, I do think Ed might not last until the election and if so, the split within the party, polarising both the PLP and active individual members on one side and union leaders/activists on the other, will make them unelectable. People don't like divided parties, they scare the horses.

Also by 2015 I'd expect the EU to be either collapsed in its current form the rate things are going with bailouts so UKIP rejoining Conservatives would give them a bit of a boost

And ANOTHER policy bites the dust. See story
Sorry to disappoint the forums LibDem haters but...The proposed high speed rail link between London and Birmingham is no longer affordable, says Maria Eagle, the shadow transport secretary

I thought Labour wanted big projects and spending to boost construction industry?
High speed rail is a great way to reduce regional flights and is key to reducing the need for Heathrows extra runway.
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
