Just a suggestion.

With it looking like there will be a bucketfull of rearranged fixtures towards the back end of the season why not make use of bank holiday weekends.

Play good friday and Easter monday,
Saturday and bank holiday monday,

Players, officials and spectators would most likely prefer it rather than travelling to the likes of Wath Brow on a Wednesday evening as St Pats had to do last season. Plus Brow had to travel to Siddal and IRB midweek, a killer of a journey on a Saturday.

If it's mild over christmas why not play on the 28th Dec and 3rd Jan?

Surely provisional fixtures could be arranged to avoid a stupid backlog later on.

To be fair to the league, Wath Brow requested the mid week fixture at IRB and we obliged. Personally I do not fancy all my bank holidays being taken up with rugby and I am sure other people with families may have the same opinion. After all we are amateurs and volunteers.

dont forget, theyre only amateur players who have to work aswell and have families. have you played at this level much and played many games saturday monday. dont think your thinking too much about player welfare here, a rediculous suggestion in my opinion.

When the pros are asked to play 2 games in a week there is up roar about player "burn out" but some of our league administrators seem to think that 2 games in 7 days is acceptable for amatuers. ohmy.gif

One game a week is more than enough for the amatuer player in my own opinion, as this allows them to earn a living during the week, to train accordingly during the week and then play to the best of their ability at the week end. biggrin.gif

lets keep the bank holidays free for family and beer!
