SQUAD COMPLETE?
Wed 15th Dec 2010 11:16am

The Club can announce that Neil Rigby has penned a contract for 2011.

Neil has signed on for his fouth term and is looking forward to what promises to be a good season for him and the Club.

The Club has made one further signing, who will be announced tonight at the meeting.

These latest signings will complete the target of the 28 man squad.

The question is who is the mysterious 28th man?

TOP SIGNING. Unsung hero of the last few seasons. Should `ve been player of the year when Rob Line won it. Brilliant news.
So who is no 28?

Ian Mort from Leigh, had to go as the meeting was dragged out a bit.

Ian Mort has potential to be a very good player for Swinton if Steve McCormack can build up his confidence and give him regular games. Good try scorer in the Wayne English mode when at his best, good goal kicker. Could score a lot of points in Championship One, although he will need a bit of time to get to know his new team mates and be able to read who to follow and make his runs in support of half breaks & off loads.

Would be useful to get him feeding off forwards like Bruce Johnson and Phil Joseph, inject some pace up the middle.

He has a bit of a point to prove now, having been put out in the cold by Millward last season.

The key will be whether Steve McCormack rates Ian Mort ahead of Richard Hawkyard for the full back slot as that's definately his best position. Mort on form would have the edge I'd think, but its Mr Mc's view that counts!
Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.
