I was under the impression, as I'm sure quite a number of others were, that the West Cumbria Under 18's was a JOINT venture between Haven and Town.

During last season Haven fans were talking, on here as well as on their own forum, of their lads playing etc. I queried it then as to what, if any, input Town had in to this project and I never got an answer.

Reading Gary Hewer in tonight's N & S it seems to me that Haven have laid claim to this team hook, line and sinker, as he talks about the staff time and money they have put in to it. All the good young players seem to end up there after playing in this team and I think it is time we, the fans, were told what the set-up really is.

No wonder Haven can run an Under 23 team if they are getting the pick of all the young players locally whilst we will have players sitting out, not getting games and getting more frustrated.

Does anyone have an answer?

I think most people just don't know the answer to that one Keith. It certainly doesn't seem right and I for one am unhappy and frustrated at the way it is being run.

I see you got your answer on the Haven site, we didn't pay our share and they did. Only thing is, it was money they never had I can't believe how smug and self righteous that lot still are after shafting all of their creditors.

The other answer someone gave was that they have a better youth set-up than us and I don't think we can argue against that. If it was down to finance then are we not being a bit short sighted as we have given them a free hand to all the local juniors. The team will be playing at the Rec with Haven coaches and the next step up for them is Haven's Under 23 side, where some of their older players will be getting matches as well. What is our long term strategy if not local junior players?

If I’m not mistaken there wouldn’t have been to many overhead’s as the rfl paid for all the transport costs for all the teams in the u18 league, as a new team it wouldn’t have paid any player insurance or registration fees in the first season and the second season 50% which would be about £55, that price will still be the same as the clubs who are club marked get a heavily subsidized rate, they also received a large grant from the Cumbria foundation when they first kicked the team off.
