visit the Trust website www.lionstrust.co.uk and go to the Lions Tales page where you can see some old film footage of the Lions going on a lap of honour at Station Road with the champions trophy in 1964.

Also there's an old season ticket from the last season at Chorley Road.

Absolute magic to see Station Rd on film. I wasnt around at the time of the footage but it brought a tear to my eye to see the terraces i used to freeze on as a lad with my dad and grandad. I also thought how big the ground looked as on photos I always think it looks small and the video really shows what a great big old stadium it was.
There must be tons of Station Rd footage knocking about. I even think Ive got some on video somewhere. Im sure that the woman who used to do the videoing(Ann Bishop?) would have had every match from the early 80`s and I remember a rumour of a Danny Wilson compilation. Id love to see that.

It's probably more to do with which browser you're using. I've tested this on IE8 and Firefox although both needed to install a Windows Media File plug-in first.

Sometimes work pc's don't allow extra software to be loaded on it, I know mine doesn't. Just double check when you click on the page does a message bar appear at the top asking you whether to install the plug-in.

Certainly would be good to get some of Ann Bishops footage, let us know what happens. The Danny Wilson compilation would make good viewing, certainly better than Christmas Day TV!!

I have some videos of the 80's and 90's games when i used to do some commentary on them sometimes with Mike Caine. Some were done with Ann Bishop on the camera and others with Dave "Speilberg" Dyson doing the others.

I have them in storage somewhere but must dig some out and see if i can do anything with them,

It even worked on my work's laptop so it should work on anyone's. It did however ask to run the add-in.

Have a look at the attachment you should see a bar at the top like this one.

Doe's anybody know where to get hold of Swinton matches from the championship era of the sixties. The lions were on BBC Grandstand several times in both cup and league matches. I can remember playing Featherstone Rovers on Station Rd in front of the cameras. What a great night of fund raising we could have if we could get hold of these matches, including the Lancashire cup win against Leigh in the late sixties, there must be some gathering dust somewhere,if only?

I wouldn't get to bothered about the video Duffymoon, the quality is very poor and there isn't much of it anyway, lets hope that someone somewhere as got some quality archive hidden away that we can drool over.

During the Rugby League centenary season Sky did a presentation at every club.Ours was at Gigg Lane after a midweek game and there was some excellent footage of the sixties championship winning teams in an open top bus parade around Swinton. Some of that footage was used in one of the Rugby League Raw programmes a couple of seasons ago.Surely someone must have copied it.

thanks Mark those Pathe news clips are great. To all those Swinton fans who can't remember Station Rd in the fifties and sixties take a look at the clips and marvel at the crowds we used to get, anybody got a time machine?

I am very surprised that nobody as commented on the thread that Mark [ferret] asposted for us on the Swinton clips on Pathe news archives. These are good quality clips. Click on to Marks thread and click on pathe news and look especially at the tests with Australia and New Zealand circa 1951 and 1952 and it shows you just how big Station Rd was and the size of the crowds Swinton used to get. At the end of a game Swinton used to come to a standstill with the sheer numbers coming out of the ground. For all those who can't remember the fifties and sixties take a look at the clips they will open your eyes.
