I have just got back into driving after a 13 year break for 1) Health reasons, 2) I lived in London, so didn't need a car. When I was going to buy one in October I took 5 driving lessons just to refresh my skills, one of the first things my instructor told me was to treat other road users as exceptionally stupid village idiots who normally drive a tractor.
That works for me round here, just as it should help anyone thick enough to drive in London. Apply to most of the country, and you will be OK
