The Knights' latest recruit, ex-Wakefield Wildcats club captain, Jason Demetriou, who has been granted a three month testimonial by the RFL for his services to Rugby League in England, will combine his first team playing duties for the Knights by working in within the Community programme. The former Super League star, signed a one-year deal at Huntington Stadium last week, is expected to play a key part in the Knights launch their assault on the Championship. The 34-year-old, is renowned for his versatility and has played at a number of positions including loose forward, stand-off and centre.
Fellow first team regular and Community Development Officer Jack Stearman stated “Having someone of the calibre and nature of Jason helping to deliver this programme will not only enhance the profile of the York City Knights, but it great from him to be out with the publicl. Jason is well respected throughout the Rugby League world and I hope the children will enjoy being taught by a well established professional Rugby League player. We have already have good feedback about Chris Thorman, who is also a high profile member of our community team who has had an impressive playing career. ”

Bit of truth in this according to the press today.JD having talks with Keighley today but he has said a lot of things have to fall into place quickly for him to leave York.

If he leave York now i think it would be a disgrace to be honest, if he was after a coaching role why sign for York as a player? And then why come out and say how happy he is to be at York and how much hes looking forward to the new season and the rest of it. On the other hand if he stays now cos he dosnt get the job, how can you trust his commitment to your club, he obviously dosnt want to be there? will you be happy to pay his massive wages for our league knowing he wants away?

Shades i thought id never say it but i feel sorry for the fans of York if this happens, and he leaves, he will have massively have let the york fans down and the club!

We have been here before with Glasseye and Wilson who signed for York then went to Leigh the last time we got promoted, if J.D. does leave us at least we will have a bit of money to sign another top player or maybe 2.

Sounds/Reads like JD has been very up-front about this when he signed.
Just wish the club had not released his signing to us & the Press before it
was all sorted (Ryan Clayton was another example)......

Having said that, the club has got 99% of things correct recently.

What's the problem? He wants to play for york but he also wants to get into coaching in the longterm. Sounds like everything has been above board and nothing like the Glasseye or Clayton senario. If any player gets the chance to further their career it would be wrong to stop him. york should be applauded for being good to players.
