This is an absolutely appalling standard of banter on these boards.

Gav, I'd say the main cause of the appalling levels of banter is entirely due to one or two Hunslet fans who think they are witty and amusing. They really, really aren't. Some of its actually bordering on embarassing and cringeworthy.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

Got to say personally I would have kept his signing quiet until the possibility of losing him had been defined as otherwise everyone gets all excited about what potentially could be one of the best signings ever made by York let alone the knights. Can understand him wanting to go into coaching, however why not hang out for that as oppose to signing a playing contract with anyone even if he has been open about it. On the other side if this flexible approach was the only way to attract player of this calibre then so be it as can't fault the Knights Management for trying to bring in this level of quality.
Not the end of the world if JD does join the Cougars as no doubt we still then have funds to look elsewhere, thought Woods might have used some of his Aussie links to bring in a couple, a clone of Simon Friend and Trevor krause would be nice.

Happy New Year to you all

Statement form our chairman.

The club is pleased to announce that it has agreed terms with Jason Demetriou to be the Player/Coach for next season. Jason will work with Glenn Barraclough and Matt Bramald to ensure we achieve automatic promotion to Championship next season. To assist Jason, Matt has been moved to Assistant Coach alongside Glenn for the first team and retains his reserve team responsibilities. This move is a reflection of the value and commitment that Matt brings to the club. As rugby league fans will know Jason had captained Wakefield Wildcats for 7 years and the club feels that he will bring significant capability to the club to successfully build on the foundations that are in place. Given the quality of Jason and the existing coaching team I think this club can challenge the top of the Championship in 2012.

I would never question the integrity of Jason Demetriou.
He turned down the original offer from York.Whether or not he went for the coaching position at Keighley before or after further negotiations with York is not known.
Now he has been at York for a short time I am sure he is convinced he has made the correct decision to join the club having met the personnel involved with the club.
He must be aware of the history of the chairman of Keighley and how the timing of his appointment brought the sport into further notoriety.

No problem for me that he has taken steps to further his own career and make every effort to seek the best
remuneration for his family.
Nothing has happened for me to doubt his loyalty to the cause or that he has been dishonest with anyone or let anyone down.( Unlike his potential chairman )

I take it you dont like our chairman?

I don't think the individuals/groups in the schools and hospitals who lost money will care for him;I don't agree with people finding themselves in debt being allowed to avoid their responsibilities.
As the RFL allow such people into the sport - and allow them to not pay debts when at rugby league clubs, take them into administration and then take over again,as at a couple of clubs,I am long since past caring, really.
I hope JD receives better support from the board at Keighley than he did earlier this year at Wakefield.

As Keighley have,in the past, had a drug dealer masquerading as a 'tyre importer' in charge of the club, then I suppose there is an improvement.(Carl Metcalfe)

I wish your club every success - except at the Huntington Stadium on 27th Feb.

I get the feeling you want to say a lot more but have held of.
I wonder why?

Regarding the phones. Do you know the full details of why it didn't work out?

As for him not paying debts at the club. He wasn't in charge when theses debt were made.

I realised I cannot change the world or the people in it.

I seem to recall O2 got the blame for it.

QUOTE

I'm not apportioning blame or responsibility solely on Mr Fawcett but there is a pattern emerging throughout rugby league. No worries, there are more people prepared to support soccer and the larger number of people involved in that sport who lack financial probity and morals.
I appreciate your support for your club.As neither of us can change what has happened we may as well end the exchange of views/questions/points now after I wish you,JD and Keighley Cougars a successful 2011 in Championship 1.
