Not sure about either to be honest.
It's in the backs that we need to strengthen; somehow I cant picture Cooke or Drew slipping into the centres. Brad Drew is naturally a hooker but I believe he can play loose forward, Cooke is either a loose or a half-back- looking at the players we have at the moment I dont understand why we'd choose to sign either of these 2? Yes, they are proven super league-standard players and would certainly be "big-name" signings, but Im not sure if they would be needed. There is plenty of other areas in the squad that require much more focus.

Cooke maybe, but it's his antics again.

Drew I don't see a place in the team for to be honest.
Something apparently seen, heard, or sensed, but having no physical reality!

Cooke has had the potetial to be a star, but you dont get released from 3/4 clubs without reason. on his day he is excellent, but as has already been said, its his off field antics that ruins his potential.

Yes agree with the above 100%, pure class on his day but just his antics off the pitch. Personally i dont think Paul Cooke would be good for Barrow or Barrow good for Paul Cooke!!!!

Zeb to centre maybe and Cooke/Drew at 13 ? IMO we do need another player with the ability to play halfback. Drew has played halfback many times before, as has Cooke.

Anyway, I wouldn't take any notice of rumours in the RL press. They have been so innacurate so far this year it's not true. Drew is being linked to the vacant Keighley coaching job as well. If they guess enough times, they're guaranteed to be right eventually !!

Maybe if Cooke came he's gonna be a replacement for Zeb, as rumour ive heard (and its just that) is that Zeb is having visa difficulies, but others may know better..
Personally think that Drew would be the better of the 2 rumoured signings, but since we have 2 hookers already, and he's lost a bit of pace to play in the halves or backs, wonder where he'd fit in..

MC. Bags of NRL experience, just been released by his club to make way for a superstar back. Apparently Sir Des snaffled him up while he's been out there. sleep.gif

Although he'd obviously be an amazing signing, the hassle of trying to get him into the country would probably take months to negotiate. For that reason, I doubt whether there's anything in this particular rumour at all. Schoey said he'd met with a couple of players last week - so those particular targets must already be in this country.

I don't think money is an issue. Any target player is offered a contract on a certain salary. If they turn it down, that's the end of it. I'm sure this will have happened many times in the last few years. It's pretty obvious that the BOD are looking at all player contracts with a view to getting better value for money. Some players have left because of it and I'm sure some (if not most) that have signed will have taken reduced contracts.

You'll have to explain a bit more than that Darren. They haven't what ?

It was reported at the time that Andy Bracek wanted more than the club were willing to offer.
