You shouldn't be so surprised at his absence of late. It's pantomime season and he's been in rehearsals.
I have it on good authority that he's the best Widow Twankey since Christopher Biggins !

MC. Bags of NRL experience, just been released by his club to make way for a superstar back. Apparently Sir Des snaffled him up while he's been out there. sleep.gif

Marshall Chalk?. Released by Gold Coast titans to make room for Clinton Toopi? , Center was at Celtic Crusaders and Aukland Warriors before that Age 29 sleep.gif

Looking at the squad we have at present and taking into account the salary cap constraints, I'd say the players mentioned so far are all surplus to requirements.

No need fror Drew at half back or hooker with the wages he would no doubt command. No need for Cooke at s/o or Loose, why change the game of 2 of our best players (Rooney and Zeb). So unless both players are willing to take substantial pay cuts and have hidden talents playing in other positions, I see no reason why we would sign them.

We probs need 1 or 2 more forwards, but they would be squad players and not big name signings, (kept Noone maybe?) the starting pack should be one of the strongest in the league (James, Gleeson, Thackary, Knowles, Catic, Zeb) with quality cover in Brett, Ostler, Fletcher and possibly the return of a couple of last years faces.

What the squad desperately needs is 2 recognised centres, Harrison was gash for large parts of last season and yet had to be played, he should be playing for his place like everyone else.

Assuming that Broady will be convinced to play again, I would like to see another recognised full back, preferably a young talent to be his understudy with a view to taking over full time in 2012, Brett Carter probably should have been that player.

I agree with 95% of what you say, except for the understudy fullback. If Broady does re-sign, the chances are that any understudy wouldn't get any game time, which would make the signing a pointless one tbh. Zeb and Ballard can both fill in at fullback ifinjuries play a part.

I see where he's coming from though, We can't rely on Broady forever, probably not after this season and that's if we're lucky enough for him to re-sign.

I agree in principle, but any understudy may spend all season in the stands. And with no reserve team I just don't think it's worth it.

I appreciate that any understudy will not get a great deal of game time, however the player that gets the offer needs to consider what is on offer for sacrificing the chance of being first choice for a season. The best they can hope for is a run out in the NR Cup, maybe a game against a struggling side and the off chance of an injury to Broady.

However, they get the opportunity to learn from the most experienced and possibly still the best full back outside SL. They get first hand coaching and advice from the best possible source with the promise that should they develop as expected, the number one shirt is theirs in one of the Championships leading clubs.

Its a bit of speculation on both the player and clubs part I suppose, but I prefer it to relying on being able to "buy in" a quality replacement when the time comes and Broady retires.

i will put my head on the block here cause in my opinion zeb was very hit and miss last season i thought harrison improved as the season went on zeb never looked interested at times, before people start having ago everyones entitled to their own opinion.dont get me wrong zeb is or could be a great player but one or two big hits a season doesnt cover up the wayward passes that get thrown,i hope he proves me totally wrong and has a storming season and shows up for every game he plays in

I agree aswell. At times last season Zeb looked like he didnt want to play but at times he was genius. Says in the mail his visa will be sorted soon so lets hope he is on top form for next season.

*** if *** Brett signed, he would learn all of the above & could go out on loan also (to reduce the wage bill & get plenty of game time, while also being ready to cover for Broady and learn from the master until he takes over, win/win.

Youngy is defo out of the equation. I used to work with his Uncle and he txt me today to say he'd signed for Wakefield. I would say this is 99% accurate, cos he's not the type to tell Porkies!

hasnt Brett not signed a new contract at Town 2 month ago? realistically why would Brett sign for Barrow at the moment while Broady was still here? Brett himself would probably accept he wouldnt start before Gaz in the number 1 shirt and although its great to train with good players its on a Sunday afternoon in the middle when you gain the experience and he wouldnt get it at Barrow, also Brett has gained International honours through playing every week and no doubt earned more money than he would if he was down here
