We cant sorry mate. We play Askam in the Barton Townley that night and are already missing quite a few players who are going to challenge cup final, weddings and a other things.

na that dont sound right because if you all sign on in august like we do your covered for 12 months so wont make a difference you dont sign on for a winter team or summer team you sign for a club for 12 months !!!

Well, no season lasts 12 months so Im not sure where that logic comes in fella.

I do see your point about being signed on for the same club, most problems between summer and winter players have been between players swapping one summer club for another winter club, the lads at Millom and Askam would not be doing that.

One thing I would say is most sides dont fancy Millom anyway, do you reckon your bona fide A team lads would benfit from most of your first team being availible for the A team through the winter, this would probably make teams even more likely sufferers of millom flu giving your A team less games.

yeh it will be a team lads that are 1st picked but lads that train weeek in week out and sit on 1st team bench will obviously be in the team that is only fair but i will refer to my prev iovous comment the band d need to let lads play at 16 not 16 and left school that is wrong all teams in our area reliy on these young lads if they dont change the rule the barrrow and district league is gonna fade away !!!

I dont really get all this doom and gloom around the B and D.

Last year was my first season for years and it didnt really seem any diffrernt to how it was then.

ATEOTD lads who want a decent game will be willing to travel and most enjoy the away day craic

For the others as long as groups of lads want a run about on a saturday afternoon the B and D will serve its purpose

I agree there mate, didnt realise that was the case until it was brought up on a thread here.

Theres just not enough U18 opportunities around here to tell 16 year olds they shouldnt play RL at open age level.

i was slighlty steaming when i wrote that last night!!

yeah it serves its purpose

they should not be stopping 16 year olds from playing because those lads may decide to go to other sports and we all need as many players coming through as we can, yeah defo not enough u18's opportunities about.

regards the league being f*cked, maybe that was a little ott but generally there does not seem to be as many players around anymore - maybe we should blame sony and microsoft for making kids wanna stay in and play fifa!!

the rule could be in place as apart of Child Protection\Safeguarding not sure thou

i think we need to band together on this one and put it to the league i can remember playing open age at 15 and so have a lot of others we need to keep our youth coming through the b and d u16s leagur this year only has 5 teams and in order to get the lads playing you end up playing each other 4 times in some cases im sure they could handle it !!

I agree old millom town something needs to be put in place to bring the youth through, but I dont know if playing open age as they turn 16 is the answer? what happens as it does now when the young lads come through and the Lunatic Fringe bully boys ( and we all know who they are ) prove what hard men they are by knocking ten bells out of the kids and it puts them off for years or ever and then there lost to the game completely

i was wondering why club would need to play a 16 year old still at school ?
also every club has duty of care to these young players .
that me speaking with my youth worker head on .

i just think if there good enough then they should be given a crack at it plus where we are we only have a small amount of lads to chose from plus they are very keen at that age unlike the A team lads who you have to ring on a friday night or saturday morning to play for you our u16s played ulverston u 16s last night and belive me they had some huge lads for 16 year old and im pretty sure they could handle an a team game if anything i think it would improve them as players the game is much quicker nowadays and these youngsters can run rings round the bully boys ha ha !!

I watched that game, some of the lads from our 16s train with us regularly and could without a doubt handle an a team game.

I think the rule is right as it is. No doubt that some of these lads can hack it but you have to draw a line somewhere and if you have 16 year old schoolboys playing then you will get people saying "why cant Mark (15yr old) play when Jonny (16yr old) plays and Mark is bigger stronger"

And besides that I get shown up by enough people without schoolboys getting in on it aswell
