Wigan Warriors can today confirm two pre-season fixtures ahead of the new engage Super League season which kicks off on 12th February against St Helens in Cardiff. A further fixture against Super League opposition is set to be announced early in the New Year.

The Warriors will face Super League rivals Salford as well as Championship side Barrow Raiders.

Wigan fans will get their first chance to see new signings Ryan Hoffman, Jeff Lima and Brett Finch at the Willows on Sunday 16th January with a 3pm kick off against Salford. The following Sunday, 23rd January, a Wigan Under 20's side will travel to Barrow for a 3pm kick off in Brett McDermott's Testimonial match.

Speaking about the fixtures Head Coach Michael Maguire said,

"These pre-season games are very important as we continue our preparations towards the start of the 2011 season. Salford will provide us with tough Super League opposition while the clash at Barrow is a good opportunity to look at the whole of our first team squad and 20's players in competitive action."

Under 20's! What a joke. It's been a few years since I've been to blighty, but I went to see Barrow against Saints kids. I'm sure the score was 50 nil to Barrow (when they weren't as good as they are now) and I heard some of the "kids" moaning that it was only a friendly and give us a chance!!

The Raiders playing a "World U 20's" would still be one sided.

Why not send 6 or 7 1st team players and make the rest fron the U 20's squad.

Don't forget, this has been organised through Bretts testimonial
It isn't something the club has arranged.
Still, it would have been nice to see some of their first team in action!!!!
It may still happen.

It says on the Wigan website that admission is £10 or £4 concessions, lets hope the game go's ahead with the weather and a lot of people turn up to raise some money for a very deserving player. I wouldnt be surprised if Wigan bring quite a big squad of Maguire saying it's a hit out for first team players and U20's.
