The 12" Single remix of 'Rasputin' is a fine fine thang indeed.

"Ohhh, those Russians..."

Bye, Bobby.

That quote and, indeed, all the male voices on Boney M records were done by the producer Frank Farian, although I rather suspect you knew that mate.

All Bobby Farrell did was dance. Having said that, he did move quite well.

RIP.

In my first job we did an opening promotion for a casino/club and Boney M were the entertainment. I was 22 and blagged a freebie by working on the night. I was in band, so my boss gave me the job as Boney M's 'gopher'. I had to meet them from the car, walk them to the dressing room, get them drinks, snacks, towels etc, then walk them to the 'stage' and back after the performance, then back to the car. The whole job lasted an hour! They were lovely people and Bobby Farrell did the vocals live (even though the original recordings were his producer).

He also wore a white fur two-piece suit!

Fondly remembered.

RIP.

It's quite ironic that both Rasputin and Bobby Farrell died on the 29th of December in St Petersberg!

Is that the one with the long drum intro?

I remember an Italian bloke in a bar in Turin asking me what Daddy Cool meant when it came on the jukebox. I told him it didn't really mean anything. He was most insistent though so I told him it meant 'papa freddo'. Thankfully he gave up at that point.

So long pappa freddo
