Considering it was a first run out for both teams, Hunslet should go well this year.

Was a good game for the 1st appearance of both teams. We never expected to go to post office road and get a win but we gave a good account of ourselves against a very quick and skillfull fev team.
Unfortunately we can't play york every week so playing teams like fev will give us a good idea of the standard we need to try and achieve.

hopefully so thought we went ok bit slack out wide some of Fev tries bit too easy mind you being down to 11 in second half didnt help first half thought we played well just made too many errors and penalties against a team like Fev will kill you but a lot to be hopefull about just glad to see a bit of rugby.Thought it was a poor turnout from us considering first game of year but never mind

Poor turnout? You mean there was only 6 of you lot instead of the normal 12?

From what I saw yesterday, I have to take it as a positive that this is the first real test of the season and one on which we should analyse and use to determine what we should be working on and therefore the list below SHOULD be negatives.
Firstly I can't remember who said it but I really think we need to realise that the step up to this division is going to be a lot harder than I think we (as supporters) have anticipated, we out played most teams last year and I know we never thought we were going to win yesterday but I do think this is awake up call for us.
I thought our line speed was not really there (am sure the intensity will come on the opening day) but on several occasions we had a defensive line that was moving up in dog leg fashion, leaving huge gaps for the young feth to exploit. Our moves whilst looked ok - were executed very slowly but this may come as the team begins to gel.
Tackling was good in spells with 2 men going to body with man taking the legs however on many one on one and 2 man tacckles we failed to smother the ball or take them to ground - unfortunately what we didn't do was the basics and rolling away too quickly giving Feth the chance to get the roll on. This resulted in us trying to slow the game down in other ways such as "old Head" tactics of holding the leg of players after the tackle had been made etc resulting in stupid penalties.
On that note I would love to see our penalty count - as we gave yards away for fun for what amounted to a huge lack of fitness still.
for those that was also there am sure it was as clear as day that Mr Barnett really doesn't look interested - his one on one play was shocking and he fell off tackles of which you would have bet your bottom dollar on that he would or should have made. I think there was around 3 maybe 4 tries that came as a result of him missing/not moving up/non reaction to play.
Finally we really need to sort the centres out. As i see it we have got a solid pack an outstanding half back pairing in March and Grimmer but we need to sort the centre/wing area's. We seem to have a prop playing centre !!, Looking forward to George coming in. We didn't have much support play and we do miss Wayne for that. When Luke broke on the feth 20 racing to their 50 he had nothing in support - Pricey broke on the wing and had no back up or support. The only time we looked effective was in our desire to keep the ball alive which is encouraging but I don't think we completed a set.
So as what has already been highlighted Feth played a young (fast and enthusiastic side) that looked quite well drilled - Hunslet played with a team that perhaps has been training together (but i believe not everyone is training as regularly as they should) that needs to improve.
What I did have to laugh at was one Feth Fan that said Chappy was past it etc etc just as he dummy'd past 4 of them and scored - for that I decided my £10 was well spent

2 sin binned after a mass brawl
I thought we did ok yesterday, enjoyed the game and the performance we put in, we certainly held our own against a top team, we were never going to win the game and never really looked like winning but the effort and skill levels from the performance suggests we wont get embarrassed this season as many are predicting. Think the playing of LOWEY at second row this season could be genius! There was some good individual performances and some not so good but overall a pleasing performance.
We are desperate for a centre!!
Terrible turn out from our supporters, less than 40 there, still we made some noise as usual!
New kit looked well, love the shorts and socks!!

We need two centres desperately unless we go with Haughey at centre this year, 3 players stood out to me as being inadequate yesterday; Oakes, Clayton and Harding.
Barnett had a bit of a mare as well but given his record and also thinking back to Pryce's first game for us I will reserve my judgement.

Surely not the Harding who was going to 'rip the league apart', Josh?
If you are looking for threequarters, I hear Matthew Fox has bailed out at Dewsbury. With his Wakefield connections I guess March will know him, although I expect the Rams would be looking for some kind of fee to release him from his contract.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

I think your problem is your coach and his brother Josh, they didnt set a good eg, or maybe they did and they wanted to try and rough Rovers up a bit, either way there no good. The rough stuff will never work in this league not unless you have the quality players to do it and Hunslet havent. Pair of boneheads if you ask me and in the modern game there way, way out of there depth as coaches

Is that the same bonehead coach who has took Hunslet from the bottom of national league one to promotion within two years you may not like him not of people do but to say he is out of his depth as a coach is laughable.
