Following a pitch inspection this morning the Knights match against the
York Select, scheduled for this afternoon, has been called off due to a
frozen pitch. This news is very disappointing but the pitch was deemed
unsafe for the players. The club will look at alternative dates later in
the year.

Saw plenty of local football going on yesterday up at poppleton so must have been one hell of a frost last night, clearly can't put players at risk of injury though however disappointing.

The playing surfaces I've seen over the last day or two ( including the golf course ) have had about 10mm of give - soft, slippery stuff - and then it's been like concrete as the pre Christmas frost has never got out of the ground.
Batley and Fev both played yesterday but by all reports both games presented little in the way of entertaining, competitive RL.
One can argue that it's just as hard a surface in August but should a player bust an arm due to the tricky surface, it just isn't worth the risk.

Been down to the stadium this morning, pitch looks ok from a distance but its rock hard underneath.
Lets face it we have had what one or two days of temp over freezing in the past three weeks you cannot expect anything else.
Safety first.
Spoke to IW and said your in between a rock and a hard stone, if its played and someone gets seriously injured then everyone will be shouting, it shouldnt of been played and as it is if you cancel it fans will say it could of been played, You carnt win!!!!!
Roll on start of the season.
Happy new year to you all.

Heworth footy pitches rock solid yesterday as I said, bit of give on top but solid underneath and a real ankle breaker.
Taking that into account its no surprise today's games off, couldn't really see it been on from what I saw yesterday.....player safety is all that counts. I wouldn't have wanted my kids footy side to have played yesterday with the state of the pitch and the same goes for the Knights.

That was a complete farce.
Got called off at 1.45 after a few pitch inspections, club were not keeping updated and people including visiting fans were arriving at ground expecting it to be on some who have popped down to Harrogate Town to watch there game.
