He also created 3 or 4 very good chances, I would prefer him to keep trying things rather than just run it in.

Well done "Town"
Just when you thought Radio Cumbria couldn't get any worse they go and stick Town Hater Martin Morgan in there with Cox
Well done to the Boys today, it was a great moral booster for the coming season.

After going 14 points up and having had two tries disallowed I think we took our foot off the pedal a bit and started missing tackles and Haven got back in to the game. The lack of fitness told on both teams well in to the second half. For Haven I thought Fox and Culnean played well and the young stand-off looked quite capable once he had settled down.
All in all both clubs will be glad of the run out and the crowd of 1,227 have had a "fix" of live rugby league to put them on until February when the NR Cup starts. Oh and Town have won the Ike Cup for the first time.
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

When I got back to the car to journey home I put on Radio Cumbria and they had switched to the soccer but the chap in the studio said, "Workington have beaten Whitehaven 20 - 12 in todays match at Whitehaven. It was only a friendly, if there can be such a thing between the two but congratulations to Whitehaven for surviving and being able to carry on".
You couldn't make it up could you?

Seriously? So we beat them at the wreck for the first time since 93 and they still get the praise. Such a ###### radio station at times.

Yep, not trying to put a downer on any of it, just pointing it out, lots of good points from the lad and the rest of the team, both sides rusty and can only get better with fitness and practice, lets hope we get a lot better than them....

I thought havens stand out players today were McAvoy Palfrey and Culnean, don’t rate Farrer and some of Daltons passing was erratic to say the least at times, Olstrum done some good hard work in both defence and attack, Matty was just Matty 110%, think Town will build from today’s game and will be one of the leading teams in the league this season,
