The first action of 2011 is less than a week away. Although only a 'friendly' (if there is such a thing in RL), the game against Swinton is going to be a bit special for a few reasons.
Firstly, Craven Park opened its' gates for the first time in 1931, so this year is the 80th Anniversary. Barrow's first ever opponents at CP were .... you guessed it, Swinton.
Also, the match will see Schofield vs McCormack as coaches which will obviously add a bit of extra spice to the occasion. It's also the first chance to see Mark Gleeson and Jamie Thackray in a Barrow shirt.
Please download/Print/Email/Facebook etc the poster and do your bit in building the crowd at Craven Park for the coming season. If unsuccessful this time round, as long as the RFL keep to the same criteria for 2015 as they have for the 2012 Super League Licenses, we need to get the 2,500 average attendance 'in the bag' nice and early - ie during the 2011 season.
SPECIAL REQUEST - Can people please reply to this post stating where they display the match posters. This will help greatly in identifying any large gaps around workplaces, shops etc.

Take it the game is unlimited subs?
Something apparently seen, heard, or sensed, but having no physical reality!

WTF? How come Swinton have 287 players?
We only have what 18 / 20?
Gleeson won't be playing on Sunday I don't think......Ballard at FB and Twiggy goes in at centre.
I am perplexed as to what is happening at Craven Park Towers, it seems very quiet, are we running with a very lean squad this year?

Have to agree. Our squad looks tiny and according to the club we are looking to sign only 2/3 more players.

I think he has confused the number of players in the Swinton squad with their average crowd.

Don't forget we are not running a reserve squad!
you can't have a dozen decent players sitting around waiting week in week out!!

so it looks like the squad will have a few dual registration players in the mix, like it has already been said with no reserve team you cant have a massive squad, the only downfall to that is that when players do get injuries the squad becomes a little short and there will be no reserve game time for the players coming back from injury,i just hope the club has a bit more luck than last year on the injury front heres hoping

In all seriousness, proximity to the M62 must play a large factor in attracting a number of players.

Says in the mail today that lots of players agents are enquiring about joining Barrow so i dont think it will be that.

That's because of the expectations of the club and our recent successes. We didn't find it so easy signing players with SL experience when we were in Swinton's position did we?

I think your stream has got a bit lost here, steve. You asked if people would place messages on this stream on where posters have been put. I have placed a number of posters on Facebook pages including my opwn. Would it not be an idea for all contributors who are also on FB to put a copy of the poster on there FB page.
