I'm not sure why this is happening now. It may be that something got changed when the computer was overhauled a couple of months ago, but it is now irritating me.

When people send me an email with images, it arrives fine and I get the images. However, when I forward it to friends, they don't receive (or at least can't see) the images.

I use Windows XP, Google Chrome and Gmail. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about Gmail but when you forward an email, the email app will often automatically deattach the the piccy. It's probably something to do with minimising the transmission of viruses. Guaranteed that this is nothing to do with the overhaul of your PC.

I suggest downloading the piccy and then reattaching it to the forwarded email.

Thanks for the reply, NS. It seems I am not alone and Google are aware of this problem. It isn't attached images, though, it's embedded ones. (Hope the terminology is right - it's the ones that are in the email itself) There was a post on the Chrome help website on 30/12/10 about it - no reply yet - and my friend has found a reference to the problem elsewhere which suggests that Google are looking for a fix. His suggestion was to use another browser, so I've dusted off IE8 and will try that next time I want to forward an email with images.

Will also try your suggestion of download and attach.

Its bad email practice to forward on attachments and most clients will fail to do so by default.

Talking of emails, are you a top poster or a bottom poster? I've had a long running debate/argument with a colleague about this.

As I said, I'm not forwarding attachments. They are embedded images which others have sent to me and often they have been forwarded from someone else.

Eh? I'm a leg man, personally, but I don't think you're referring to ladies' body parts. wink.gif Actually, I don't know what the second paragraph means. Ho, hum! Ignorance is bliss. And you can take my word for that. biggrin.gif

When you reply to an email to you write your reply above the quoted text (top poster) or underneath (bottom poster)?
