I don't think we need to be expecting full-strength opposition on Sunday judging by the Huddersfield Local Press.

This annoys me every year. I really struggle to see what benefit this game has to offer. Other than the link between duel-reg players. Which probably wont come to be released to Batley until the start of the season. Therefore not involved in any preseason training/bonding with the Batley players.

Huddersfield doesn’t have the biggest away following anyway. Majority of their fans won’t be interested in traveling the great distance. So it’s hardly a money spinner. Even with the reduced gate.

Batley supporters want to see our lads test themselves against at least a handful of SL players as im sure the players do.

This will be no more of a training exercise on a cold Sunday afternoon.

I would prefer to see a Batley v Dewsbury; 3 game pre-season test for the Roy Powell trophy. Rather than half ar$ed effort on Boxing Day. Im sure this would generate more than what is on offer at the moment. Split the gates, both teams would benefit rather than wasting there time against Giants & Bulls academies.
