Ex-boxer Gary Mason has died following a cycling accident. Seemed a decent bloke, and was full of praise and admiration for RL players after his trial with London Crusaders (or was it Broncos). RIP.

I see Rugby League legend Gary Mason died yesterday. I believe he did some boxing as well.

Seemed like a nice enough bloke.

Always came across as a very genial, likeable guy.

Very sad news, yet another leaving us too early.

I remember him having trials with the Broncos, as has already been said, he had positive stuff to say about his experiences there.

At about the same time IIRC, he had an appearance on "Question of Sport". I seem to remember watching it in case any reference was made to his RL efforts. When the first round "Picture Board" started and it was his go, he chose a certain number and, when it was revealed, the picture was an ice skater or summat like. He started laughing and said he'd been set up. Turns out a cameraman told him to pick that number as it was a boxer and he'd know who it was. Bill Beaumont suggested the cameraman ought perhaps to do a runner. biggrin.gif

Gary Mason came across as a genial giant, a very nice guy.

RIP.
On 13/2/2013, Hull City's owners the Allams, released a statement in their position as the owners of the KC Stadium Management Committee. One line in this statement read as follows....

"The SMC's principal responsibility is to remain neutral"
