erm, slightly worried that there is still plenty of work to do for Rhino and Greeny after a plucky; youthful but lets not forget talented Giants outfit really did give us a run for our money.

Kyle wood ran things superbly for the Giants academy and ex bulldog josh griffin was always on hand to wreak havoc.

Plenty of defence work saw us keep our victory,
in terms of the pre season status- this match was a great practice run but if the Giants played a few 1st team fringe players the result could of been entirely different.

Another great outing for Mennel, Rettie and manning.

yes but they did not play them , its like a premier football team resting players and hoping things will be ok, or just giving young lads a run out, it was a friendly, not a blood and thunder Match like the Dogs v Rams. ( Which we won easily but the sheep fans, say was just a no purpose a run out ).

Happy with that today. The side the Giants fielded was, in terms of quality, about the equivalent of a top end Championship 1 team. We didn't really get out of second gear for most of the match, and as usual Laughton decided to absolutely cane us in the penalty stakes. Looking forward to seeing Johnson and Hodgson in our squad. They didn't do anything overly spectacular but Johnson looks a real livewire (in the same mould as Jason Robinson) and Hodgson looks like a really solid full-back, especially defensively. Surprised by how good Wayne Reittie looks, especially as he doesn't seem to be rated by Hunslet and Yorks fans. Took his try well and has a lovely step.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

I thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon. A decent display against a reasonably able Huddersfield team. It was certainly no training run, and had moments of real quality, especially the tries by Bretherton and Brown in the second half.

Mr Laughton his normal dodgy self but still reasonably optimistic about the forthcoming season.

The opposition were decent, especially in the backs, with Wood, McNally, Hodgeson and Griffin. Was that Johnson who hared it up the wing in the first half which led to their try?

For us, I think the backs look promising, and Mennell, once fit will be back to his normal destructive self.

A good work out and some cracking tries from the dogs.

Yes, you are correct, it was Johnson who flew up the wing and set up their first try for Griffin.

And let's not forget the good work by Foulstone that brought the ball back out of the in goal area which subsequently led to our cracking long range try from Bretherton, and also the off load by Manning when the ball was then passed along the line for the other try in the corner. If this is what is to come this season, bring it on.

A solid display. Our defence looked good and we created some good tries.
Still a bit of work to do to get to the finished article but it is looking encouraging.
The Huddersfield team was alot stronger than the team fielded last year and footballing wise where alot better than the Dewsbury side last week.
The second half was spoiled by Ronnie Laughton's whistle but it gave the team alot of tackling practice against a team playing down the slope which is probably what the team needed at this stage of the season.

I thought it was a great work out today, particularly for our defensive line in the second half (which stood up pretty well, TBF).

Once again, I found myself spending large periods of the game, particularly after the break, wondering how Laughton continues to get appointments at this level. The bloke is devoid of any common sense and I can't remember one play-the-ball where there wasn't an offside, yet he kept pulling Batley up and letting Huddersfield off. The sin-binning of Foulstone was also ridiculously harsh.
