The RLIF/RLEF really need to step in at the earliest opportunity to try and sort this out. The current situation is no good for anyone in the long run. Perhaps David Niu could be persuaded to take a step back, concentrate on running the international side of things and helping develop regional/state leagues. The USARL can then concentrate on running the National "semi-pro" league which the other leagues feed into.

I agree that Nui should run the US National team (agreeing that USARL players can be selected) & step down a CEO of the AMNRL. If Nui & Spinner could come to amicable agreement could the US end up have an RLIF recognised Umbrella Org (Federation/Association/Board) with 3 - 4 senior members from each organisation overseeing the 2 orgs & agreeing on decisions about the National squad? A bit like the NFL overseeing the 2 Conferences?

It would be more like the US Soccer Federation which runs their national soccer teams where Major League Soccer just looks after its' own league. The NFL's 2 conferences aren't in any way separate organizations from it, they're just branches of that league.

Interesting to see that one of the tomahawks elite player camps is still set to take place in jacksonville.

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG
Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT
Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG
Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

It would be interesting to know what the "support" was.

what I fond interesting here is that for some reason Spinner has been thrown in as the person leading the USARL.

Talking with many of the clubs involved, In fact he really had nothing to do with the split, it was actually a whole bunch of clubs that came together at their own instigation and talked about the issues at hand and all made the decision to send the letter and when no response was given to break away.

Spinner as far as I know is not going to take any role in running the USARL, he will concentrate on the Axemen and that's it. Why he is getting thrown in all this is strange.

Probably because, rightly or wrongly, Spinner has a higher profile in the RL world than anyone else involved in the USARL. People see him making posts and releasing statements about the USARL (as other teams have also done) and simply assume he must be one of the driving forces behind the USARL.

What does this mean for the numbers of teams in each respective league?

I think that puts the usarl at a nominal 10 clubs but don't think the wolverines are planning to play this year, like the seattle storm it's build the basics year which is sensible.

According to the USARL their players have been formally excluded from playing for the tomahwaks http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/USA-Rugby-League/174730202567002 personally i think the rlif should step in and say behave yerselves.

That's Jamaica as very firm favourites for the WC qualifiers then.

I had a very brief twitter chat with niu in reponse to his vague tweet about lies going round the world so i said 'great so the tomahwaks will be selected from the AMNRL and the USARL! Good to hear" and his response waS 'never heard of a usarl mate. The man is a petulant child and seems to be cracking under the pressure. More worrying is this post from the guy working to set up the seattle storm
http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/showthread.php?t=376741&page=2
"The split of AMNRL/USARL did not, in any way/shape/form, influence Seattle's decision to not join either entity. I think we have made that quite clear. Unfortunately, it seems it was taken as a personal sledge to Niu who has since ceased all contact which is extremely disappointing for us in the North West.

He's cut off his nose to spite his face. A lost opportunity (unless something drastic happens in the next six months) for the USA to qualify for the WC. This decision could set the game in the States back years.

"To give you some insight into player eligibility for the USA Tomahawks, it will be an obligation for all players to be registered with the AMNRL as a member of the league and/or affiliated with a club for the 2011 season. This player registration process is available to everyone."

Just saw that. Made me laugh the way it was worded - y'know just to give you an insight not for any particular reason or anything! Maybe someone can confirm but i'm sure the tomahawks had non-amnrl players for the tri-series in florida? Or did i get that wrong. Either way made up self-serving rules are just nonsense. Was that a decision of a board? is there a board? is there a constitution maybe? Reading all this stuff i'm surprised the USARL guys lasted as long as they did.

The news from America just gets worse by the day. This issue needs to be a priority for the RLIF/RFL/AFL.

Does anyone have any insight into what these bodies are doing to resolve the situation?

I just despair sometimes.
