QUOTE (Bondi Cannon @ Jan 19 2011, 09:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Havent' posted for ages but this thread made me all misty-eyed... I can remember posting back in about 98/99 when I was at uni and involved with Oxford Cavaliers and there were sprawling threads of abuse between the Oxford contingent, a Skolars bunch led by IM2, some Crawley Jets types and even the odd St Albans person. I'm sure that was on the old VT. I remember posting then as Oxfraud Cavalier. Still read this every day even though I've lived in NZ for the last six years and there's still the odd person on here I know from back home.

Is that you Bob8?

A lot of Yorkshiremen believe that when God created the world, he made it with perfect balance.
He balanced the hot areas with the cold areas. the dry areas with the wet areas.
And, in creating Yorkshire, he created the most glorious place on earth - full of majestic beauty and sporting giants.........and for balance he created....... Lancashire.

I've lurked on most of these in my time. Firstly rec.sport.rugby.league, then the virtual terrace and here / rlfans.

Always as Saint Rich ,with the occasional posting as Dutoni.

G'day Clarky - how's it going? Does your aunt still run a B&B in Motueka? I don't know if you realise that's only 10min from where I live - I always thought we should get organised so that I anonymously hand deliver a Christmas card from you to cause a bit of confusion.

It's like Royston Vasey, this place.

Nonsense.

It's a piece of pie to get away from here.

Ah.

Bit of a bump as a tag-on to the 'How old are Posters on this Forum?' thread.

GDMM, I must have been on here a decade now. I first joined up as Wolfweb went down the toilet in the Rocket Rodwell era!

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Hmmm.

No I don't care if you're if you're into different bands

No cause for so much hatred, I'm just a different man

Pull off that cover, I will too, and learn to understand

With music deep inside we'll make world unity our plan

I was first on the VT in 1999 (during the Union WC). I remember an argument with Dutoni being one of the first things that got me interested.

Bob8 made a great point about how it becomes a steady part of your life. It is only a forum but there aren't many things that you check and contribute to almost every day, no matter where you live. In the time since I've regularly checked this forum, I've changed newspapers a couple of times, I watch different channels mainly on TV, I've changed careers etc. To me it's just an extension of RL and if anything it's RL that's been the one steady part of my life.

It can become all consuming if you're not careful so I don't go on it or post as much any more and I almost never check RLfans when I used to use both.

Well 2 years on this is exactly the same. I've got even better at not getting embroiled in day-losing arguments, I'm now using the road-runner tactic. I give my opinion and then leave it be, it's taken 10 years to realise that people almost never change their minds so there is little point getting in a discussion. I also find it easier to take periods away from the board but I always come back...

If John Drake started the website that incorporated the Virtual Terrace, why is it that RLFans has the Virtual Terrace and we don't? It's a travesty that that site is seen as the heir to the original RL forum.

I used to go on the original VT and also wondered how it ended up on there rather than here.
