Does anyone know when clubs will find out what league they are playing in?

I sent an email to Martin Flynn a couple of weeks ago asking what the chances are of moving from Yorkshire Regional to Yorkshire Premier despite us failing to win the Grand Final last season and haven't had a reply yet.

I I just wondered if anyone knew if there was a meeting due to take place or anything that might give us an idea of the league structure?

Think they are in the middle of sorting it all out, we had to have our meeting about it the other day put our input into which teams should be allowed in and what format we play so it must be all in the mixer.

Last I heard they were talking of 2 regional divisions below the premier but not sure the format. Not winning isn't an impediment to stepping up in itself so depends on the format.

Finally got a reply:

Dear all,

Thank you for applying/ confirming your wish to participate in the 2011 RLC summer Conference (Yorkshire)

After considering all the entries and look at the prospective playing strengths of existing and new clubs we have decided that instead of having a Yorkshire Premier League, Yorkshire Regional League and a merit league, the teams this year will be split geographically into an East and West League.

Each league will feature 8 teams giving a 14 game league season leading to playoffs.

The geographic split will still give a strong competition creating lots of derby games and should in most cases reduce transport costs (with the obvious exception of our friends from Scarborough).

For the play offs the top 2 teams in the West will play off against the top two teams from the East (e.g West 1 v East 2, East 1 v west 2 for a place in the “Premier” Grand final) the grand final winner would progress to represent Yorkshire in the National Premier play off structure.

Teams 3 and 4 from each division would play off (e.g West 3 v East 4, East 3 v west 4 for a place in the “Regional” Grand final) the grand final winner would progress to represent Yorkshire in the National Regional play off structure.

The Merit league would remain unaffected and run as per previous seasons subject to feedback to Dave Raybould’s email to Merit league clubs requesting comments last week.

A clubs meeting will be held in February (date and venue TBC) to discuss operational procedures for the coming season and issue fixture lists.

Here are the leagues:

Yorkshire RLC 2011 Structure

West
Lindley Swifts
Shaw Cross Sharks
East Leeds
Guisley
Parkside Hawks
Doncaster Toll Bar
Leeds Akkies
Prospect Pirates

East
Scarborough Pirates
York Lokos
Rotherham Giants
Cutsyke Raiders
Knottingley Stozle Rockware
Moorends Throne Marauders
Walton Warriors ARLFC
Barnsley Broncos

Merit League
Heavy Woolen Donkeys
Doncaster Toll Bar
Haworth Park
Scunthorpe
Barnsley
Barton
Moorends Throne Marauders
Leeds Akkies

Does anyone know anything about Prospect Pirates? Where are they based?

Tried googling them but got a cricket club based in Adelaide and a religious group on facebook.

Never heard of a "Prospect" in Yorkshire.

We're doing something similar with west/east split in the midlands albeit with fewer clubs (I know of 4 definites for each, but not sure if they've since got more teams) but the whole league will go into a premier and regional part way through the season.

Think the Regional divisions' national playoffs will be even more a joke than usual but at least the local leagues and the Premier national playoffs sound very good.

Looking at the standard of those Yorkshire divisions it makes sense to have everyone at one level, guess it shows a lot of clubs are building to summer, though Milford and Victoria Rangers have scrapped their summer sides

The reason Milford Marlins have not entered a team this season is because their under 18's are now in the National youth League which has now switched to summer, in recent seasons the Marlins have used mainly their youth players for the summer league. also with the winter league teams both having a backlog of fixtures it would have put a lot of pressure on the club.

funnily enough, met one of my customers today and talked at length about amateur rugby in bradford etc and turns out hes helping set up Prospect, playing from the Prospect Pub in Eccleshill, they are basically Undercliffe & Dudley hill lads who want to play in summer and a lot of the conference lads are going to play so will be quite strong i suspect

Just thought why are Doncaster Toll Bar in the West group while Barnsley and Rotherham are East?

Would have still thought Walton would be in West and Doncaster Toll Bar in the east.Sure Moorends and Toll bar would love good derby game.

South Humber Rabbitohs look like they might be back in the Merit League this season.

Their main problem has been that the organiser has changed every year so there's been little in the way of consistency.
North Derbyshire Chargers - join the stampede

Raising money for Prostate Cancer UK - ran the Spire 10 mile in August and the Worksop Half Marathon in October - more to come in 2013

its true, cant see too many of our conference lads playing tbh, but initially its for some of the older lads to get together and have a beer, but im sure if its starts going a bit too well they might take it a lot more serious but its good to have another team where people can have some summer rugby in bradford
