Hunslet Hawks RLFC are delighted to announce the signing of Matthew Fox from Dewsbury Rams on a 1 year contract.
Fox 21 is a centre who can operate to equally good effect in the back row and is a former Wakefield Wildcat.
He is a current Irish International having been part of Andy Kelly's squad in the recent autumn nations tournament.
Director of Rugby Darren Williams said " It's common knowledge we have been looking for some centre cover since Wayne McHugh left the club so were thrilled to have acquired Matthew's services, he first came under our radar whilst playing under Tony Drury for Wakefield senior academy and impressed in a loan spell at Dewsbury towards the end of last season before signing a permanent deal with them after some strong displays for his country. "
Williams added " We have agreed to compensate Dewsbury with a undisclosed fee and I would like to thank Mark Sawyer & Warren Jowett for their cooperation in concluding this deal. Finally I would like to praise the Hunslet Squad builder (HISSA) who have agreed to finance the transfer fee. "
On signing Fox said " I would like to thank Hunslet for the opportunity to continue my playing career, living in Middleton it's great to have the chance to play for my local team and it will be good to put the shirt on, my aim now is to cement my place in the side. "
It's understood the Hawks beat Featherstone Rovers & Keighley Cougars to his signature and he is expected to make his debut in the club's last pre season game at home to Keighley on Sunday week.
