a really physical encounter, both sides tackling well and in some ways cancelling each other out.our pack (byron and martin especially) outstanding today.preece took his try well and thought manning and toohey showed up well off the bench.our tactics in the 2nd half,by keeping halifax pinned deep in their own half, were spot on.very pleasing win.other try scorer was daley williams.

1033 Crowd. poor day, very wet and windy. Take 'niggly'Penkywyz' out of their side and there was not a lot left. The pitch was understandably heavy but we had 3 'tries' missed by poor handling in the wet. can't recall one chance other than the try for them.
referee let both sides get away with a lot until he decided enough was enough after a little altercation. He could have acted earlier.
My son-in law, a Bulls fan, watched them last week and told me that they kicked out direct from 5th tackle, niggled in the tackle, and mouthed back at referee a lot. we saw all that again today.
One particularly unsavoury incident was late in the game, Lythsey was penalised, correctly, for holding down and Penkywyz was holding up 10 fingers to the referee , trying to get him sin-binned. Very professional.

We had no 6 last week.
We did today and thought the kicking game from Fax was good.

Bar not making touch at penalties and kicking most kicks after 5th straight to one of our backs...................Oh and missing the conversion. But bar thatFax's kicking game wasn't bad.

Mate,
Kicking game refers to kicks in open play....
Our goal kicker was not playing 6.
As for kicking in 5th, many kicks were done before 5th as our playing style is not 5 drives and kick
The amount of posession Batley had in 2nd half to yield only 11pts was surprising, was expecting a cricket score!

No Black, Beswick Aizue, Gannon, Watene etc for fax. Included trialist Ryan Fieldhouse (Barla Fullback) and a couple of others so Fax hardly putting a strong team out. Starting for Fax were:
Greenwood
Worrincy
Patterson
Haley
White
Jones
Bowman
Cherryholme
Penky
Barlow
Clayton
Bannister
Smith
And going on about Penky niggling have a look at Fax Reject Gareth Moore as both as bad as each other. Moore is well known for his cheap shots as well as his quality bit like Penky.

The game was a good workout for both teams. Batley dominated most of the game and looked very solid in defence.
Our tactics where spot on in the wet and muddy conditions. My man of the man was Byron Smith in a good team display.

Batley may be the Champions of Champions but Fax fans are definatly the champions of whining! Every pass, play and touch had the babies in the top stand howling for penalties! I suppose they realised it was their only chance of scoring against the dogs and with penky crying his eyes out to the ref every two seconds.... pathetic.

The utterly predicable 'but we were missing . . . . . '. Well we didn't have David Toothill, and you can only beat up what's in front of you.
Watching Halifax today was like watching Man U play soccer. Always in the referees and linesman's face / ear, diving around trying to get penalties and a boat load of cheap shots - pathetic really. And the number 12 (is it Barlow) is a good player but a complete liability / lunatic.
And I heard (on the grapevine) Moore didn't like the fact Fax had cigarette breaks at training, which is why he rejected Fax'.
