Well done Batley - as usual fax full of excuses - looks to me like they were beaten by a country mile!

Batley may be the Champions of Champions but Fax fans are definatly the champions of whining! Every pass, play and touch had the babies in the top stand howling for penalties! I suppose they realised it was their only chance of scoring against the dogs and with penky crying his eyes out to the ref every two seconds.... pathetic.

Beaten by a better team end of ohmy.gif

You obviously didnt hear the people in the stand at the side of the pitch. Just a shame they dont put more effort into supporting Batley than having a go at the ref or opposition player at every tackle.

No excuses. Batley deserved to win to day. It was a good work out for both sides. Roll on the season proper.

The utterly predicable 'but we were missing . . . . . '. Well we didn't have David Toothill, and you can only beat up what's in front of you.

Watching Halifax today was like watching Man U play soccer. Always in the referees and linesman's face / ear, diving around trying to get penalties and a boat load of cheap shots - pathetic really. And the number 12 (is it Barlow) is a good player but a complete liability / lunatic.

And I heard (on the grapevine) Moore didn't like the fact Fax had cigarette breaks at training, which is why he rejected Fax'.

Moore just did not get on with Calland and they fell out. As for cheap shots Moore is the best at it. No excuses Batley were the best team on the day. But Fax hardly put a strong team out but yet did well enough considering. Certian players like Moore, Penky do act the poor little kid one minute and then get away with murder the next. Batley will probably finish 5th or 6th this year. Fax I doubt will win anything or reach a THIRD consecutive GF but will still be one of the top teams to beat.

Seriously, based on what you had to offer today + Black, Beswick and Aizue, I'd forget it this year.

Aye, so were really ###### and you beat us by 7 pts at home in conditions that suited you.

Does that mean you should forget this year as well.... ??

you wanted it more and KH fielded at team to win some silverware, we didn't (got HKR next week) end of.

Both you and I know Fax will there and there abouts come the business end of the season....

Dont worry about us. Seem to remember being written off last year......wonder what happened then...

Shouldnt you be more concered about only scoring 11 points against a poor side?

Batley were without Tootil, Hodgeson, Johnson and Flanigan whom would all be considered first team regulars. We can only play whats infront of us and didnt have to do anything fancy to beat an averege Fax team. We are not suited to heavy conditions as you suggest, and we are in for some exciting rugby this term we have three excellent half backs who would grace any championship club. Forcing 5 dropouts playing uphill with all three HBs kicking shows the pressure we will be able to put teams under this year. I am not reading too much into these friendlies but from what i've seen so far Batley have coasted, done what we had to to win and no more, and look to have gelled quickly.if we are able to hit form and maintain it then whoever beats us this year will have had to play very well. Cant see any 60 point drubbings for us this time as in previous seasons top 4 shouldnt be a problem just hope teams continue to under estimate us and we go under the radar untill its too late! onwards and upwards happy.gif

Doubt that Beswick will be there. Reckon he feels the grass is greener on the outskirts of Wakefield.

WHERE DO YOU WANT ME TO SWIPE THIS?

Touchy laugh.gif

If you beat us at home in the league you will then see 'touchy'

nope, nothing surprising about todays result, other than the points you managed in the 2nd half.

Now then, if you are happy you lost, and we are happy we won, then everyone is happy. A perfect end to a perfect Sunday.

I look forward to meeting you during the proper season when things get serious.

Byron Smith immense today.............although a great team effort.
Halifax had a few missing fair comment but starting line up below will still be more or less the majority of their starting line up when the season gets underway.

Greenwood - Direct replacement for Royston
Worrincy - Always Starts
Patterson - Always starts
Haley - Generally starts
White - generally starts
Jones - New Signing Direct replacement for Brannigan
Bowman - OK Black would have played
Cherryholme -Regular Starter
Penky - Regualar Starter
Barlow - Regular Starter
Clayton - New Signing
Bannister - Regular Starter
Smith - New signing was a regular

When halifax say they have 10 missing (yes 10 missing) does that mean they usually start with 23 on the field ??
Im sure the difference would have been Black starting, Nash starting (he is nothing to write home about) and a more experienced old timer bench and thats it.
The excuses have started already.....the fact is that with Black and Beswick, as well as the three old timer forwards
Watene, Gannon and Larder is it going to make a great deal of difference ? Black was anonymous most of last season until the golden point in the final...if penkywicz gets injured they will be in trouble as he does give them their go forward, when he is not trying to referee the game.
Barlow good player just reminds me of Skerrett of old, third man in on many occassions, cheap shot merchant and big bully who picks out his targets, who are usually much smaller.....bless him.

?? Appeared in the last 2 Grand Finals and have consistantly been one of the best team in the past 5 years with top 3 finish in the past 3 years. Why does that make us arrogant? I doubt we will win anything in 2011 as its a rebuilding year. Still Fax will be one of the top teams.

Fax also fielded 2 amateur trialists in Fieldhouse and Gordon. Not too concerned by the result at this stage of the season. Defence improved for Fax already and just need to sort a few attacking options out. Not a major concern looking at Fax record over the years
